ARC received for an honest review

I have loved every installment in Nicole Edwards' Club Destiny series, and Perception is no different.

It's been a while since the focus has been back on Club Destiny, and what a welcome back we get!  Rather than the outside forces working on the Club, Perception takes us back to the roots of the series and the people it revolves around.

Perception is Xander and Mercedes story.  I've been waiting for Xander's story.  Friends since they first met, there has always been that spark of attraction between them, but neither of them has been brave enough to act on it, perhaps because their personalities are so similar that both of them have the same fears about making that step?

Xander, Xander Xander.  Sexy.  Bossy.  Alpha.  Dom.  There is something so darn hot about a man who knows what he wants and goes for it.

Mercedes.  Smart. Fiesty.  Domme.  I like her.  She takes not sh*t.

I loved how Xander and Mercedes push each other's buttons.

Right from the beginning I wanted these two to get their crap together, just knowing it is going to be explosive.  And boy, is it ever!  Ms Edwards books usually turn towards the kinky side of sex, and it was different that Perception leant to the BDSM side of things.  There are so many BDSM themed books out there that you just roll your eyes at the way the characters act.

Not so with Perception.  She has dealt with the D/s relationhip is refreshing.  Even during the D/s scenes there is so much heart.  You can feel the emotions rolling off the page between Xander and Mercedes.  There is that push/pull between them as they both try to come to terms with their feelings for each other and the changing dynamics in their relationship.

And I loved the way they finally got together.  We always knew that it was going to take something different for them to finally make that move, and  this was just perfect for them.

There was a lot more background the Xander and Mercerdes story than other Nicole Edwards books.  I have seen that people though there was too much background and not enough action. I don't feel this way.  They are such complex characters that we needed so much more background to get into their mindset and to understand who they are today.

I love that the characters from the Club Destiny series make an appearance and their stories all intertwine.  Add to that the Walker brothers from the Alluring Indulgence series (sexy, kinky cowboys anyone??) and you have a great read.

Can't wait to see where Ms Edwards takes us next

**Perception COULD be read as a standalone, but as all the characters lives intertwine, it is best to read the series in order to understand all the relationships**

I've never been one to talk much about myself. It's difficult, but as the days go by, I'm learning to open up a little. So, I'm going to give it a shot here...

Ever since I was young, I've enjoyed writing. When I was a teenager, I kept a journal. I did that until several years ago, I think. And if I wasn't writing down my thoughts, I was coming up with scenes in my head for various characters who would come and go for whatever reasons. And now, here I am, all these years later, spending my days doing what I love the most. Writing is my full-time job, but it is also my hobby. My creative outlet. It is a true blessing that I have been allowed to do this. I decided to give myself over to writing full-time in December of 2012 and I haven't looked back since. After spending nearly 13 years in the corporate world, it took me a little while to get used to working for myself, but I have to say, I'm loving every second of it.

If I'm not writing, I'm reading. Every single day. My TBR (to be read) list is long and it continues to grow each day thanks to the amazing authors who continue to publish books that we can't get enough of. If you look at my TBR, you'll find books by traditional and independent authors alike. My love of reading started back around a decade ago when I started reading Lora Leigh. Yes, if you want hot, check her out. Some of my other favorites include J.R. Ward, Suzanne Brockmann, Jayne Rylon, Maya Banks, Sylvia Day, Lorelei James, Lori Foster, Jill Shalvis, Jaci Burton, Carly Phillips and the list goes on and on and on.

An interesting fact about me... I don't watch television. Well, aside from the occasional news channel or some home improvement show from time to time. I love movies, but I rarely go see them. I think since I picked up a book, all else has faded away and if I have any spare time whatsoever, I'm going to use it to do what I love.
