SYNOPSIS

Mike Haddican is a proud small-town gym owner, a renowned karate instructor, and all-around good guy. Hes never needed much to be happy: his family, his friends, his girl. Especially his girl. But when Kyra left him seven years ago to chase her dreams, she all but destroyed him.

Contemporary dancer Kyra Brims made it big, but it cost her dearly. With her life and career in shambles, she doesnt need a do-over, she needs a friggin miracle. Injured, broke, and out of options after going through hell, shes come back to Alden, the town she swore shed never return to and home of Mike Haddican, the man who ripped her soul to pieces, to lick her wounds and recover.

Forgetting and letting go proved impossible when they were worlds apart; now that theyre stuck together they dont stand a chance, especially with Mikes grandma and her partners in crime plotting, meddling and refusing to give up on them.

As the passion that never died burns out of control, so do old hurts and unresolved issues. Both have reasons to be angry and feel betrayed, but now that theyre older, are they wise enough to make things work?

ARC RECEIVED FOR AN HONEST REVIEW
The premise of Deep Down is not a new one, but it is one I really enjoyed.  It is spin off series of the Bowen series, which I also love.

Mike and Kyra were childhood sweethearts, all set to be each other's forever.  Then a fight, misunderstandings and miscommunications force a breakup.

7 years down the track and their worlds are thrown back together.  The have both moved on physically, but emotionally they are both still in love with each other.

What I liked about their "reconciliation" is that they did not fall straight back into a relationship.  There is so much anger, hurt, mistrust between the two of them that no matter what their hearts or bodies want, they use their heads.

Mike ~ hot and sexy, but grrr I felt that he didn't really take any responsibility in the break up for so much of the book, threw all the blame at Kyra's feet. "You left me" was all that left his mouth for so long, but I did appreciate that as the book moved on he did come to his senses.  Which is good, because I wanted to smack him around the side of the head and tell him to wake up to himself!!

Kyra ~ I could completely understand her side of the story and why things happened the way they did.  My heart broke for her with things she has been through, and could understand her apprehension at coming back home.

Her daughter Sam is just adorable.  And it is no surprise that Mike falls completely in love with her.  She has never had a real father figure in her life and she adores Mike with her whole heart.

But the complete and total scene stealers in this book are the OG's ~ Original Grandmas.  Mike's grandma Rebecca and her friends Greta and Wilma are hilarious!  Oh the hijinx they get up to!! Whether it be seniors martial arts or dancing, or their incessant matchmaking, they are just gold!

And then there are their text messages!  Auto correct has a field day with them, and there is no way you can't laugh out loud at them!!

There are some great secondary characters ~ Mike's family, the guys from the gym, the girls from the strip club.  Yep, there is a bit of everyone in this book.

But there are some just horrible people in this book too.  Kyra's ex husband, there are no words for how horrible I found him
He has absolutely no redeeming qualities at all!

The sexual tension between Mike and Kyra is so thick, you could cut it with a knife.  When things do steam up between the pair, things get pretty darn HOT!!  The dynamics between the pair means they were always going to get together in some shape or form, but it was the getting there that I enjoyed.

I look forward to more of this series (but get me Max's story first!!!)

Elle Author Pic

After a colorful array of jobs all over Europe ranging from translator to chocolatier to travel agent to sushi chef to flight dispatcher, Elle Aycart is certain of one thing and one thing only: aside from writing romances, she has abso-frigging-lutely no clue what she wants to do when she grows up. Not that it stops her from trying all sorts of crazy stuff. While she is probably now thinking of a new profession, her head never stops churning new plots for her romances. She lives currently in Barcelona, Spain, with her husband and two daughters, although who knows, in no time she could be living at the Arctic Circle in Finland, breeding reindeer.
