Hudson Valley Series #3

5 Stars

The third in the hilarious yet sizzling hot Hudson Valley series from New York Time and USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton.

Clara Morgan is living the dream, if you can call rebranding hotels that are desperate for a new life and running any kind of marathon a dream. Which she does. But the career she loves and the endurance races that keep her adrenaline pumping have kept her too busy to put down any roots. Growing up in foster care, she’s never been able to establish traditions of her own, which may be why she’s fascinated by the rituals that generations-old family resorts are known for. She’s especially interested in the Bryant Mountain House, and not just for their secret recipe for the yummy, gooey, can’t-get-enough-of Hot Cross Buns.

Archie Bryant, the man with the Buns, is fifth generation and one-day-owner of the charming yet run-down Bryant Mountain House in Bailey Falls, New York. He’s determined to save his family’s legacy from the wrecking ball the old-fashioned way
by gritting his teeth and doing what needs to be done. Theres no way Archie will be influenced by the new hotel branding expert his father brought in to turn one hundred and fifty years of tradition on its head just to attract a faster, younger, slicker crowd. But when some of Clara’s ideas start bringing in new, paying customers, Archie can’t deny that she may have just given him a shot at keeping his resort open.

It’s sticky, it’s messy, it’s sweet, it’s Buns.

We're finally back in Upstate New York.
After Roxie and Natalie, it's now Clara's time to tell us her story!
She's been hired by a soon-to-be-retired Hotel owner to bring his family's luxury resort into the 21st century. They desperately need more guests and lots of updates in all areas of the hotel.

But soon-to-be-hotel-boss Archie is not really agreeing with his dad. He doesn't need some city girl to come and change everything he loves about this place.

Archie and Clara have this insta-hate / insta-mega-attraction thing going.
But both also have gone through a lot in their pasts that makes them shy away from something serious.
So it'll probably be a fun few months for Clara - to get her job done while lusting after Archie - who hates what she's doing with his hotel!
And it'll be even funnnnner for the reader to witness all that adorableness! ☺

Finally back in the beautiful Hudson Valley!
And this was such a great story!!!!
An enemies to lovers kind of thing. With so many adorable moments and fun moments and sexy moments and crazy, ridiculous moments and moving moments. I loved every second of this book.
You start reading and you immediately think you've traveled 30 years back in time to that Hotel from Dirty Dancing!

The whole atmosphere of the book was so ... real somehow. I felt like I was right there, checked-in, in that amazingly beautiful hotel. Beautiful - but also very ... old. Clara's help is desperately needed. And Archie will see that soon enough! Poor guy. He's not into modern things. He wants to keep everything the way his grandfather wanted it, he's big on traditions. He's a bit 'Olden-Times-ish' himself. A Cary Grant kind of gentleman. I think I could totally see Hugh Grant as Archie in the Buns-Movie!!! No idea why! He's way too old to be Archie, but the British stuffiness would be perfect!
But of course Archie is not always so .... Archie-ish.
We have some very sexy sexy scenes!!!

Beautiful book with so much in it. So much interesting hotel stuff. How to make more money with an old hotel. I loved that. And all those old traditions at the hotel. I loved the whole mood and atmosphere. I want to check in there immediately!!!

And we also have an amazing cast - all our Hudson Valley darlings show up for special events at the hotel - and we might even see an old friend from San Francisco again ☺ Because that hotel needs lots of walls un-banged! ☺  And another 2 beloved west-coasters might check into the hotel (one of them might be a red-head!) ☺

BUNS was such an adorably funny & interesting & sexy romance!
You'll sooo fall in love with Clara & her Cary Grant-ish Hotel-Boy! Also, I will be permanently leaving Germany soon! Upstate NY, here I come!!! I'm accepting donations for my Bryant-Hotel-Penthouse via paypal! I will also need to buy a Television for that penthouse!

ARC received for an honest review

The next book in the Hudson Valley series woohoo.

"Cos you ain't got none unless you got buns hun"

That is what I sing to myself every time I see the cover of this book.  He sure does wear those jeans well!

I have fallen in love with this series, and was very excited to get back to Bailey Falls.

Right from the get go I felt like I was in the big house from Dirty Dancing.  All I needed was Johnny to come steal Baby from the corner to make the feeling complete!

Clara Morgan completes the Three Amigos that include Roxie and Nat from the first two books. She is kind of the calm to their storms, she completes them.

Archie Bryant - fanning myself.  He is kind of old school and fits right in with the old style hotel.  Be has that kind of suave, old school Hollywood vibe about him.

I love the push and pull between our lovelies - it is a kind of love/hate deal with a healthy dose of lusty feelings thrown in for good measure.  I just want them to get together!  I mean, there is a lake, surely they can do some lifting or something there for me?

I loved getting more of the lad and lasses from the first 2 books in there series, and I especially loved a cameo from an unidentified redhead and her beau!

I loved everything about Buns.  It is sweet, sexy, cute and adorable and everything I want in my romance books.  It makes me want to head up to the mountains and dance the pachanga!

Book #2

Alice Clayton is a novelist with an unholy love for her KitchenAid mixer. Making her home in St Louis, she enjoys gardening but not weeding, baking but not cleaning up afterwards, and is trying desperately to get her long time boyfriend to make her an honest woman. Hi sweetie!!

After working for years in the cosmetics industry as a makeup artist, esthetician, and national educator for a major cosmetics company, Alice picked up a pen (read laptop) for the first time at 33 to begin a new career, writer. Combining her love of storytelling with a sense of silly, she was shocked and awed to be nominated for a Goodreads Author award in 2010 for her debut novels, The Redhead Series.

Alice has penned three novels, The Unidentified Redhead,The Redhead Revealed, and coming soon in November 2012, Wallbanger. She thinks you should purchase them immediately. She’s not kidding, not even a little bit. Everyone needs some comedic erotica in their lives. She is hard at work on the third book in The Redhead Series, set to release in Spring of 2013, continuing the saucy and sexual escapades of everyone’s favorite couple, Jack and Grace.

Additionally, Alice loves spending time with her besties on Not Your Mother's Podcast, make sure you check them out at notyourmotherspodcast.com or over on iTunes. 3 women rushing towards their forties still acting like teenagers. A saucy little mix of sex, love, relationships, pop cultural, celebrity gossip and All Things Jake Ryan.

Alice enjoys pickles, Bloody Mary’s, 8 hours of sleep, and a good pounding.

Finally Alice would also like all her readers and listeners to help her convince Mt. Alice that the only other thing that would make her truly happy is finally bringing home a Bernese Mountain Dog. She is totally serious. And done talking about herself in the third person…
