✪ Beard With Me (Winston Brothers 5.5) ✪ Penny Reid ✪

‘Beard With Me’ is the origin story of Billy Winston and Scarlet St. Claire (aka Claire McClure) and is just the beginning of their epic love story.

No one is better at surviving than Scarlet St. Claire and making the best out of circumstances beyond her control is Scarlet’s specialty. In an apocalyptic situation, she’d be the last person on earth, hermitting like a pro, singing along to her CD Walkman, and dancing like no one is watching.

Scarlet is clever, Scarlet is careful, and Scarlet is smart . . . except when it comes to Billy Winston.

No one is better at fighting than Billy Winston and raging against his circumstances—because nothing is beyond his control—is Billy’s specialty. In an apocalyptic situation, he’d be the first person on earth to lead others to safety, overcome catastrophe, or die trying.

Billy is fearless, Billy is disciplined, and Billy is honorable . . . except when it comes to Scarlet St. Claire.

Now, I am so far behind with the Winston series - I have read Roscoe's story but not the others.  I have had them sitting on my shelf for a couple of years now, but so many books, so little time.

I keep telling myself that I need to read them, however after reading Billy and Scarlet/Claire's origin story, I am not thinking I want to wait for all the brother's origin stories first - such a dilemma.

I didn't know much about the Winston's past at all, except from Darrell, and what we learn in Roscoe and Ashley's stories.  I liked going in blind with this to find out more.

Beard With Me is heartbreaking, making me cry for at least the last 20% of the story.  Oh my!

I have been watching Penny's warnings for the past month or so saying this book is going to break us - and she tore my heart out and stomped all over it!
I don't want to give anything away, as this is a story you need to dive into blind, to devour, to feel all the feels.

This book is definitely one of my favourite Penny stores.

And now I am back at my dilemma - more origin stories, or present day Winstons (I so want more of teenage Cletus!)
