“My guardian angel is a
drunk.”
Evelyn Casey's life is at a standstill. She's in her mid-twenties, struggling with the dating scene in San Francisco. Nothing seems to be working out, and she’s starting to think that she’ll live out her days in her crummy apartment with her overbearing roommate, Brooklyn. It's absurd, but sometimes Evey longs for a guardian angel to show up and save the day.
And then he does. Seriously. His name is Lucian and he's a guardian angel, been on the job for two thousand years. His sudden presence in her life is both good—he's brilliant, witty, and warm—and bad—he's brilliant, witty, warm, and hot as ----. But as perfect as Lucian seems, he’s got problems of his own. He’s taken up drinking and he’s brazenly inserted himself into Evey’s life, going against the greatest cosmic law ever created.
For Evey, the rules are simple: You are not allowed to hook up with your guardian angel. But sometimes fulfilling your destiny requires a leap of faith, a confrontation with God.
Yes, God as in God.

Yes, God as in God.
She's working as a fashion designer for a boss she can't stand.
She dates guys only once because she just knows it won't go anywhere.
But she wants more for her life!
To top off her already less than amazing life, her guardian angel is witnessing all of this AND he is constantly drunk!
And also in love with her.
He's obviously not allowed to love one of his souls, but he can't help himself.
He might also be responsible for Evey's relationships not working out...
What will happen with an almost fallen angel and a girl who lost almost all faith in her happily ever after....
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT ☺
First of all....this book has two of my reading hard-limits in it.
First the paranormal aspect. I don't read those books much. A sexy vampire here and there, but only once a year or so. The second hard-limit is RELIGION. I'm such an ANTI-EVERYTHING-RELIGIOUS person. I don't even know why I chose a book about an angel and faith and whatnot! But the blurb sounded cute and fun and it was Renée Carlino ... I just had to read it.
And I read it.
I kind of liked the drunk Lucian. But he was so much like all the angels you always see on TV. I always saw Nicholas Cage in my head, and that is not something I want to have in my head. Ewww.
Lucian is beautiful - and not the way Meg Ryan claims Nicholas Cage is beautiful in the movie - I almost barfed sitting in the theater when she said that btw.! ☺
Lucian has longish black hair and the most beautiful light blue eyes!
And of course we immediately want him to end up happily ever after with Evelyn.
But it's just not possible without one of them dying or whatever the rules here are....
I really liked the book, but, especially the beginning, was way too rushed. They meet. He tells her the angel thing, she believes him, they move in together. Bam, the end of their courtship. It was way too fast a start for me.
I wish the beginning would've been a bit more like the last third of the book, with lots of action and feelings and tears and interesting stuff. I almost stopped reading a couple of times in the first half of the book, because it just didn't grab me. It was just too weird and too rushed and ridiculous.
But the last 30% made up for the weird beginning.
In the end I really enjoyed reading the book, it just wasn't my kind of thing.
I had lots of problems with it. But I also loved many parts of it. There were some very funny and adorable and sad and moving moments. ♥ Please don't let me scare you away! You will probably fall completely in love with this book! I'm just weird with lots of things. ☺☺☺

LUCIAN DIVINE was a really sweet and moving I'm-in-love-with-my-guardian-angel romance!! Run to your nearest amazon for your own sexy angel!!!!
ARC received for an honest review.
I am not going to lie. I am sooooo not religious, and I am very picky with my paranormal books, but the blurb sounded cute and it is a Renee Carlino book, so I dived right in.
This book has a very "City of Angels" feel - without the wreck that is Nicolas Cage (sorry Cage fans, but just no!!).
I loved the interaction between all the angels. The bite, the snark, the friendships.
And whilst I adore the relationshopip between Lucian and Evey, I did feel that the lead up was a bit rushed. It fell all wham bam thank you angel from them meeting to moving in with each other - but this could just be me and the fact I am not a fan of insta-love relationships.
But the last 25% of the book I felt made up for the rushed beginning for me. I loved the action and suspense and the turns the story took.
I also appreciated that there wasn't tooo much religion and God stuff in there - again, this is just my thing and wouldn't bother a lot of other people.I am not going to lie. So whilst Lucian Divine is not exactly my kettle of fish, it was an enjoyable, sweet story that I am glad I picked up and read.
