Moments.
Our lives are a collection of moments. Some utterly painful and full of yesterday's hurts. Some beautifully hopeful and full of tomorrow's promises.
I’ve had many moments in my lifetime, moments that changed me, challenged me. Moments that scared me and engulfed me. However, the biggest ones—the most heartbreaking and breathtaking ones—all included him.
I was eight years old when I lost my voice. A piece of me was stolen away, and the only person who could truly hear my silence was Brooks Griffin. He was the light during my dark days, the promise of tomorrow, until tragedy found him. Tragedy that eventually drowned him in a sea of memories.
This is the story of a boy and girl who loved each other, but didn’t love themselves. A story of life and death. Of love and broken promises.
Of moments.
ARC received for an honest review
Speechless - just like Maggie May, Brittainy C Cherry has left me speechless after reading The Silent Waters.
Spanning decades, Maggie and Brooks' story is one that left me scrambling to turn each page. I just needed to know what happened next.
Right from the start you can feel the connection between Maggie and Brooks - young they may be, but it is definitely there. They are cute and sweet and I couldn't help smiling as I read.
When the sweet and cute turns to heartbreaking and sad, I was like this
For Maggie, for her family and friends. I couldn't help it, the tears just kept running down my face.
At times there was just so much happening in the story, but at other times not so much, but it gave me time to contemplate what was happening with their story, to digest it all.
And just when I thought I had things worked out - BAM. Ms Cherry threw a curve ball at me, and I was all OMG, and WTF!! I was reading this at the same time as Bianca and I kept messaging her as I got to the next OMG moment.
There were characters that at times I really did hate with a passion. I wanted to bitch slap them - repeatedly. With my kindle. Yes, they brought out violence in me. But as the story progressed I mayyyy have come to like them again... maybe.
I loved the whole books and music theme throughout this story. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have them in my life.
I don't know what else to say about The Silent Waters, other than you need to run, don't walk, and BUY IT.

When Maggie was six years old, she and her dad finally found their forever-ever-after home with dad's new girlfriend Katie and her kids Calvin and Cheryl.
At the same time Maggie also found Brooks. Calvin's best buddy from across the street.
She fell in love with him pretty instantly and their wedding was supposed to happen in the woods when they were both ten years old.
Brooks kind of hated the clingy little girl who always hung around him and his buddies. Constantly dancing in circles and singing and smiling that big ugly smile of hers.
...a stupid ten-year-old who always sang and never stopped dancing in circles. Maggie May was the definition of annoying.
But after accidentally kissing her for the first time, he was no longer all that opposed to getting married real young. ☺
But something happened that night in the woods, before Brooks could decide on which tie to wear and join his fiancée.....something that changed everything forever.
Ten years later things are still the same with Maggie - and Brooks is still the same boy who promised to protect her and be her anchor, to stop her from drifting away.
But she can never be the girl for him....she has too many problems, she doesn't want to drag him down with her. Brooks - the beautiful boy with the amazing Rockstar-Future.
But once again things might happen that might force her out of her safe haven to save the only boy she ever loved....

What will happen to Maggie & Brooks?
Will everybody survive the book?
Will there be a HEA????

Phew.
UGH this book!
Had me crying 50% of the time!!
I already started crying in the prologue. And nothing bad really happened there - it was just so adorably moving that they had finally found their forever home.

UGH this book!
Had me crying 50% of the time!!
I already started crying in the prologue. And nothing bad really happened there - it was just so adorably moving that they had finally found their forever home.
The first part of the book Maggie is six and then ten years old. We hear a lot about how she becomes a part of this new family and how she so adorably decides that Brooks will be her husband. And how he so adorably disagrees! Too cute.
And then the serious stuff happens.... We cry a lot with Maggie and her family and friends. And we might hate on her sister a bit and later we might hate the mother too, but we also might love them again one day. ☺
We just want to fast-forward to see if Maggie & Brooks will get their happily-ever-after once they're all grown up.... But at the same time we want it all to slow down, because it's so heartbreakingly beautiful to watch them fight through all those obstacles...
The way Brooks takes care of Maggie, just like he promised her years ago. So adorable!
The book takes us along through the years... the last part of the book is another 10-year-later kind of thing. And we still so want Maggie and Brooks to end up happily ever after.
A lot happens and also not much happens. We love those little notes Maggie and Brooks write each other when they're apart... We also hate them. Because when they're writing notes, they're not together and all those years apart are really hard for the reader. Ok, maybe for Maggie and Brooks too.
Ugh - this was such a moving book.
I can't even think of words to explain everything this book makes you feel.
It's definitely a lot.
And the whole music part. Music plays a huge part in the story, same with books. It's like Brittainy was writing about me. I couldn't live without music & books either!
A good musical explanation for the book could be that it's moving along like an amazing rock ballad. Like Guns'n'Roses' NOVEMBER RAIN - instead of a Bee Gee STAYING ALIVE rhythm.
We have a lot of time to really appreciate the huge love story that is almost hidden in the words. Because it takes a good long while for that Happily Ever After to happen, even though the love is always there. It has always been there. ☺ But we love every tiny little word on the way to that HEA!!!
I think the parents and other people should've done something to prevent those 20 'wasted' years. Get more professional help et cetera. And the 2nd half of those wasted 20 years could've been prevented by a bit more 'talking' and explaining and listening and understanding and whatnot.... But it's fiction, there needs to be some drama. ☺ And there's a LOT of drama happening to our poor darlings in those 22 years that they've known each other.☺
Usually when I write a review, I finish it with a huge sentence about how the book was amazing and adorable and romantic and moving and how you should hurry to your nearest amazon asap to buy the book et cetera. It is all that, but this time I'll do it a bit different...I'll just write it as an order for you:

Stalking Brittainy:
Brittainy Cherry has been in love with words since the day she took her first breath. She graduated from Carroll University with a Bachelors Degree in Theatre Arts and a minor in Creative Writing. She loves to take part in writing screenplays, acting, and dancing--poorly of course. Coffee, chai tea, and wine are three things that she thinks every person should partake in! Brittainy lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her family. When she's not running a million errands and crafting stories, she's probably playing with her adorable pets.
