When a librarian moves to a quaint Irish village where her favorite novelist lives, the last thing she expects is to fall for the author’s prickly son… until their story becomes one for the books, from the New York Times bestselling author of Summer Reading.

Emily Allen, a librarian on Martha’s Vineyard, has always dreamed of a life of travel and adventure. So when her favorite author, Siobhan Riordan, offers her a job in the Emerald Isle, Emily jumps at the opportunity. After all, Siobhan’s novels got Em through some of the darkest days of her existence.

Helping Siobhan write the final book in her acclaimed series—after a ten-year hiatus due to a scorching case of writer’s block—is a dream come true for Emily. If only she didn’t have to deal with Siobhan’s son, Kieran Murphy. He manages Siobhan’s bookstore, and the grouchy bookworm clearly doesn’t want Em around.

When Siobhan’s health takes a bad turn, she’s more determined than ever to finish her novel, while Kieran tries every trick in the book to get his mother to rest. Thrown into the role of peacemaker, Emily begins to see that Kieran's heart is in the right place. Torn between helping Siobhan find closure with her series and her own growing feelings for the mercurial Irishman, Emily will have to decide if she’s truly ready to turn a new page and figure out what lies in the next chapter.

Emily + Kieran

Emily has finally gotten away from her super annoying mom. Ten years ago she had to quit college to take care of her mom after her dad left, but now she's finally left for Ireland. Living and working her dream in a super cute book store and as an assistant to her very favorite author. Who has been suffering from writer's block for ten years!
But there's also the author's son and book store owner Kieran. It seems that he hates that Emily's here. But why? And can that hate turn into something else?

LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN ...

That was adorable!
And obviously a bit sad and heartbreaking too.
But mostly it was sweet and so full of books and Ireland and small town charm and just beautiful!
I loved reading this. I wanted to move into this little irish town and eat all the goodies in the book store cafΓ© and drink all the tea and whisky and read all the books.
Em and Kieran are so adorable and perfect for each other. He's a bit grumpy most of the time - so cute! And Em with her hypochondriacal moments. Too funny.
I just loved this book!
And I would so love to see this on TV one day!

LOVE AT FIRST BOOK was such a beautiful love story! Adorable, funny, sparky, sweet, Irish, bookish, small towny and a bit sad and heartbreaking .... I loved reading this! Run to your nearest book dealer for your own Kier - this one is MINE!!

I have mixed feeling about Love At First Book.

For the most part, it is a sweet grumpy/sunshine romance, and I adored Emily.

Then there is Kieran, who flips between hot and cold so much, it was hard to tell what man you would get each page.

And as the story progresses, yes I could understand why he was so against Em working with his mother. I really did. But he was such a mercurial man, he made my, and Emily's head spin like Beetlejuice!

And for all the ways he treats Em throughout the book, I just didn't feel like a grand gesture was enough to make up for it? But this could just be a me problem.

I adored Siobhan, the "found family" that Em makes (and you'll understand why they are so great when you read) and the adorable setting.

Kieran was just the one who let things down the most for me.
