There once was a boy, and I loved him.

Logan Francis Silverstone was the complete opposite of me. I danced while he stood still. He was quiet, and I was always running my mouth. He struggled to find a smile while I refused to frown.

The night I saw the darkness that truly lived inside of him, I couldn’t look away.

We were broken together, yet somehow whole. We were wrong together, but always right. We were the stars that burned across the night sky, searching for a wish, praying for better tomorrows.

Until the day I lost him. I threw us away with one hasty decision
a decision that changed us forever.

There once was a boy, and I loved him.

And for a few breaths, a few whispers, a few moments, I think he loved me, too.

Alyssa and Logan became best friends at 15, when he couldn't pay his groceries in the store where Alyssa worked. She paid for him, because she felt sorry for this cute & interesting boy. She knew him from seeing him in the alley behind the store with his buddies. Buddies he didn't seem to belong with. The boy who never smiled or talked. But he started talking and sometimes even smiling with her.
They became friends, bestest of friends....

I met my best friend in the checkout lane of a grocery store. And my life was never the same again.

His girlfriends were always jealous of Allysa and her very few boyfriends were horribly scared of Logan.
Both Logan and Alyssa come from very different families. The monetary elements at least. Logan is taking care of his druggie mom and they barely make it through their days. And Alyssa's mom is a successful lawyer and they live in a huge house.
But what looks so different about their lives from the outside..... on the inside they've both been scarred and broken by what life threw at them... Most importantly their fathers.
They love each other as best friends, until it's not only friendship anymore...
But is Logan good enough for Alyssa?
He doesn't believe he is....

Maybe in a different world, I would've been enough for her.

What will happen to Alyssa & Logan?
Will he ever get over his stupidity in thinking he's not good enough for her?
Will there be a HEA????

I'm not spoiling anything!!! ☺

I KINDA LOVED THIS STORY!!!!

UGH this book!
Had me crying 50% of the time!!

Logan & Alyssa are sooo adorable with each other. First as best friends and then as lovers.... But of course it couldn't end all happily ever after with both of them just 18 years old and in love.
There has to be some huge thing happening...and it does....something or a few somethings that tear our darlings apart....
And it's so heartbreaking to watch...
I wanted them to get their Happy End so bad, but it takes them....years :(((
Lots of problems and sad and frustrating family situations ....
But it's really beautiful to read how they're all fighting to be the best person they can be in life. To be worthy of each other...

I was surprised that the writing wasn't as bad as in the first book. The first book was trying to hard to be poetic or something like that. Here, only a few words bothered me...like legit & hiccups ☺
And a bit of the story was stupid... BUT - that's the author's creativity... I can't change that.
Oh, and another thing that confused me. I only read this one other Brittainy book - The air he breathes...But.. Alyssa's sister Erika and Logan's brother Kellan??? Do they have their own book? It sounded so much like they do.... very weird. They definitely were in this book way too much with their love and life problems :/ But I loved Kellan a lot - and loving and being loved by Kellan has always been the most important part of Logan's life, so it's understandable, BUT as I said - it was a tiny bit too much Kellan & Erika.

I really enjoyed reading Logan & Alyssa's story!
And what did it teach me??? ☺☺☺
That I will definitely try this asap:

THE FIRE BETWEEN HIGH & LO was such a beautiful & adorable & hopeful & heartbreakingly sad & moving Romance. Read it! ♥

ARC received for an honest review

The Fire Between Lo High and Lo was my first Brittany C Cherry book, and boy what an emotional book it is!

I swear, there were parts of the book where I couldn't see the pages because of the big, ugly snotty cry I was having!

Yep, that right there was me last night as I was reading.

Alyssa and Logan's story was a beautiful but at times heartbreaking read.  Friends to lovers to... whatever they are today, it takes us from their teen years to current day.

My heart broke - it seemed liked just as it healed again, BAM, Ms Cherry broke it again.
Theirs is a story about love, loss, second, third and even more chances.  Their relationship has never been an easy one, but the heart wants what the heart wants.
There are parts of this book that are not easy to read.   At times it is gritty, dark, real.  But behind it all there is a feeling of hope.

And through it all, I felt that hope leap off the pages.  A hope that Logan and Alyssa could heal.  That they could make their way back to each other.  That they could have a future.

But to find out if they did - you will have to read for yourself.

This was my first read from Ms Cherry and I really did enjoy it.   I was wondering if Kellan and Erika's story had a book of their own, as they did play a huge part in The Fire Between High and Lo.

Now, time for me to find some raspberries and raid my Oreo stash to make those delicious sounding snacks from this book!
