Times bestselling sensation Kylie Scott's sexy, smart and unconventional
opposites-attract love story looks at what happens when fate refuses to give up
on what's meant to be…
When
Susie Bowen inherits a charming fixer-upper from her aunt, she’s excited to
start living her best HGTV life. But when she opens the door to find that her
contractor is none other than her ex’s best friend, Lars—the same
man who witnessed their humiliating public breakup six months ago—she isn’t exactly eager to have anyone
around whose alliance is with the enemy. But, beggars can't be choosers and the
sooner the repairs are done, the sooner she can get back to embracing
singledom.
Things go
from awkward to unbelievable when Lars discovers a divorce certificate hidden
in a wall and dated ten years in the future—with both
their names on it. It couldn’t
possibly be real…could it? As Susie and Lars work to unravel the document’s origins, the impossibility of a
spark between them suddenly doesn’t seem so far-fetched. But would a relationship between them be
doomed before it’s even begun?
Susie + Lars
We already met those two in the prequel novella BEGINNING OF THE END. You don't have to read that - but it was a cute introduction.
Susie is thirty years old. And she just inherited a fixer upper house in Seattle from her aunt.
Enter Lars. He's the best friend of her idiot ex. And he'll be working on her house.
Can she be friends with someone who likes her ex?
And that's not the only complication between Susie and Lars!
LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN ...
ADORABLE!
That was soo cute!
I could've lived without the weird divorce papers in the wall. That made it all a bit silly. I just don't know why it had to be in the book at all? But the rest of the story was so adorable. I just love those two together. I especially love their meal-sharing thing. That would be SO me with the right person!
I really loved reading this. Cutest romance with the cutest cover!
A tiny thing that I noticed in Kylie's books. The stories just ... start. We open the book and we're right in the first scene with both main characters.
There's no prologue/intro/a first page describing the location or situation. No IT WAS A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT ...
We're just bam! Right in the story.
It's not that I hate it. But it's a bit weird, right? I hate unnecessary bla bla and drama and too much redundant stuff in books, but the way Kylie does it somhow bothers me a tiny little bit... no idea why.
But pfft - I loved this book!
END OF STORY was an adorable rom-com-HGTV love story.
Run to your nearest amazon for your own Lars - this one is MINE!
ARC received for an honest review!
Sweet read with a bit of a Sandra/Keanu Lake House vibe to it.
I will say though, that you really do need to have read the prequel novella Beginning Of The End first, as End Of Story throws you right into things. I will admit that I went back and checked that I didn't start half way through a chapter, I scratched my head and was a bit confuzzled at first.
I liked the story, I like Lars and Susie (gah, I had to go back and check her name, I completely forgot it, stupid bookzheimers!) - though the mystery papers in the wall thing I could have done without, but I guess we had to have the fate thing brought in somehow.
Now, I love everything I have read by Kylie Scott, but to me, this one kind of dragged. They fought things so hard for so long, I was just "get on with it already!" For me, there could have been less of the will they/won't they, but that's just me.
