I always believed in fairy tales, but he believed in nightmares.

 

Damian Blackstone didn’t care about my existence. He came into my world for one reason only. He came to find answers about his past.

 

He moved like the villain in my favorite fairy tales. He wasn’t the one who received the happily ever afters; he was the one who destroyed them.

 

Which was why I couldn’t understand why the man who raised me set it up in his will for Damian and me to be married. I wasn’t certain I’d be able to live with a man like Damian. We were as opposite as any two people could be. I loved to bathe in the sunlight while he prospered in the shadows.

 

I didn’t think I’d develop feelings for the one who looked at me as if I were nothing more than a means to an end. Yet in his darkness, sometimes I’d see sparks of light. I’d see gentleness. I’d see his soul.

 

We became entangled with one another as we fell into mistakes and called them fate. I was his Cinderella, and he was my Beast.

 

I wasn’t certain that twisted fairy tales ended with happily ever afters.

Still, I was determined to find out.

Stella + Damian

When Stella was still a little girl, her mom died and she went to live with her mom's best friend Kevin and his old nanny - who was like a grandma for her - still is.

Now Kevin has passed away too and his last will is a tiny bit weird.

It says she has to marry this Damian guy for six months - if not, all the many millions will go to her three ex step-moms.

Damian. He showed up in town the morning of the funeral. And let's say it was not love at first sight between Stella and him.

And now she has to marry the guy? The guy who seems to be Kevin's long lost son who hates her because she grew up as Kevin's daughter?!

LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN!

Another beautiful Brittainy book! Obvs! 🤣
I loved it.

This book was so sweet, funny, adorable ... but also so very heartbreaking.

Damian is this grumpy, dark-souled foster kid. And Stella is this sunny, curvy, funny California girl.

They are so perfect for each other! But of course they don't see it yet.
Only we do - and grandma Maple!

I loved reading this. I could've done without Stella's long-time boyfriend idiot, but it was such a beautiful and just so very sweet love story! I really want to see this on TV one day please!

I also have to say that I would've been ok with it if the book had ended at the 77% mark. It was all happy endy then already. But then we had to go and create a few extra drama moments! It all turned out perfect in the end of course, but I just would've preferred the story without the bit of extra drama.

All in all I had the feeling that because this was such a huge and beautiful love story ... it was a bit too short for everything. I wanted a bit more falling in love. More about her father and his mother and the whys. More about his father and her mother and the whys. More about so many things. It could've been a trilogy with all the possibilities in the story!

BUT still - I loved Damian and Stella - I loved the story. Beautiful book!

Next up Northern Stars - cant wait! We might get a little clue into who the hero will be at the end of this book! 😍
