The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city.

Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on.  He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts.

I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at.  But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time.

Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.  You see, that unexpected invitation I received? Well, it hadn’t actually been addressed to meit was sent to my ex-roommate whod bounced a check for two months rent and moved out in the middle of the night.  I figured she owed me an expensive night out, but I guess, technically, I was crashing the wedding.

Once caught, I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. As I bolted for the door, I might’ve plucked a few bottles of expensive champagne off the tables I passed, all while the gorgeous, angry groomsman was hot on my tail.

Outside, I jumped into a taxi. My heart ricocheted against my ribs as we drove down the blockbut at least Id escaped unscathed.

Or so I thought.

Until I realized I’d left my cell phone behind at the table.

Take one guess who found it?

This is the crazy story of how Hudson Rothschild and I met. But trust me, it’s only the tip of the iceberg.

Stella & Hudson.
They meet at a wedding Stella was not invited to.
She was crashing it with her bestie Fisher.
But only because it was being held at her favorite place - the New York City library! And because the invitation for her ex roommate arrived after she became an EX roommate by leaving in the middle of the night with some stolen shoes and two months of unpaid rent.
Hudson is the brother of the bride and extremely enchanted by this pretty party-crashing perfumist.
But he hates lying. Been there, done that with his ex.
But Stella doesn't disappear from his life - suddenly she's friends with his sister and she's asking his company for a loan for her perfume start-up.

Let the fun times begin!

What will happen to Stella + Hudson?
Will there be a HEA?

I really enjoyed reading it.
There's really not much I want to say - I don't want to spoil things. It was such a cute and funny and sparky and perfumey and New Yorkey love story. You want to read it in one sitting - it's so sweet!

The big 'mystery' slash 'secret' that gets revealed toward the end ... well, it was a bit silly. We first heard about it at the 40% mark and immediately you know what is what and then it takes them the whole book to reveal it :/ a bit idiotic!
BUT - I didn't really care all that much that it was done this way. Most books have those unnecessary drama moments. The story was still so very adorable and fun!
Another thing... the title? Okay, the invitation is what brings them together in the first place, but naming the book after it makes it seem like it plays a much bigger role. Which it doesn't at all!

THE INVITATION was such a funny & sparky perfume/office romance! I loved reading it.Run to your nearest amazon for your own Hudson - this one is MINE!!

ARC received for an honest review
This was a cute story.  I liked the way our lovelies met each other, and I did laugh out loud at that part.

Stella is awesome, and I love all the New York City-ness of the tale.  It made me want to go back to NYC for another visit.

I did feel though, that everything, and I mean everything was a little too easy for her.  I mean, good on her, but sheesh if only things happened that quickly and easily for us all.

You can't help but adore Hudson and all his swoonishness.

But the character I wanted, no need more of is Fisher - you will too.

One thing though, and this happens with all Vi Keeland books - there is always some big thing that happens, and this time it wasn't really necessary.  I mean, this reader got what the big thing was in the first half of the book, then I was waiting for the other shoe to drop for the big drama thing to happen.  I even messaged my co-blogger up there "oh, here we go again".  But this could just be our thing and not bother anyone else.

Very cute, very chic story, and I know I will be all grabby hands when the next Ms Keeland book arrives.
