The second book in the Filthy Trilogy - Eric and Harper's story continues...
He's the bastard of the empire, a savant, a genius, and a self-made success. He left it all behind, but he came back for her.
We all remember Eric from Grayson's books. BUT The Bastard & The Princess & The Empire can be read as a complete standalone trilogy - but I suggest you read the Dirty Rich series in the right order - all very adorable and sexy and exciting books! ☺
We're back with Harper and Eric right the second Harper was checking for clues at the warehouse and the lights went out and she was grabbed from behind!!!
Eric needs to get Harper out of the city - he needs to get her to New York and safety. They still don't know who his father and brother have sinister business dealings with and it's getting really dangerous - deadly even!
Off to NYC we go ....

Well, that was again verrry sexy and a little bit exciting and mysterious and adorable!
We want book #3 asap to see what the hell is happening here - who are the bad people?? What/who is behind everything! Gimme book #3 now!!! ☺
I really like this story and all the people in it - especially all those Walker security guys!
And we see a bit more about Eric - we go back a few times to when he was a teenager.
But ... the book - like with many of Lisa's books - was just too long. It wasn't even a long book - without all unnecessary pages it would've been only 50 pages long! There are too many too long passages of words. I wanted more action. More new stuff. They keep on repeating every little detail a million times ... like who doesn't trust whom and who has secrets. He has them, then she has new secrets and then suddenly he has some again but she still didn't tell him everything. Jeez. I wanted to DNF at least 5 times while reading this book. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for too much back and forth today, but I just couldn't love this book. Almost nothing happens! The fifty pages of 'happenings' in this book could've been put into the 3rd book, meaning we wouldn't have needed 3 books in total at all in the first place. No idea what happened here with Lisa and her writing, but 80% of the book was not needed to tell the story. I hope book #3 will be more exciting and suspensy. I don't expect it to be, but it will definitely have the end to all the mystery and suspense - so I really want to read it!
THE PRINCESS was a very sexy mystery suspense romance!
Run to your nearest amazon for your own Eric - this one is MINE!!!☺

ARC received for an honest review
This follows on right where the previous book ended.
But for me, this time, I don't know, I just wasn't feeling it.
Harper and Eric's story was like watching an action movie. There was just no stopping from the first word to the last.
However, I felt that this time there was just too much happening, but not much going on at the same time, if that makes any sense?
It was lots of trust me, don't do that, don't go there. I felt there was too much of the same old same ol going around in circles before we got to the point. It felt a bit padded out, and that perhaps books 2 and 3 could have been one book - but this could just be me. I found myself skipping great big passages of the book to get to the next stage.
I like where Harper and Eric's story is going, I loved getting more Grayson and Mia, and I am looking forward to seeing where this story goes.
But this one was a bit of a miss for me.

♥ EXCERPT ♥
I forget everything but him. How can I not? He owns me. That
was my fear, but I don’t feel fear now. No fear at all. But there are other
emotions, a swell of unnamed emotions overwhelming me. We’re in his territory,
his home, the danger and darkness of this night, driving confessions and
intimacy to a whole new level. “I’m not just going to fuck you, Harper,” Eric
promises. “I’m going to make love to you.”
Love.
I spoke that word to him, so hearing it on his lips shouldn’t send shockwaves through me, but somehow it does. It shouldn’t make my chest expand with fear that I didn’t feel moments before, but it does. I both want him to love me and fear the moment he does. With love comes real pain when he tells me to walk away and gives me a shove when he doesn’t really follow, because he decides the bastard and the princess can’t survive.

My walls erect. I need to protect myself. “What happened to
fucking the princess and leaving her behind?”
“We just had this conversation. I’m not leaving you again.”
“We just had this conversation. I’m not leaving you again.”
“And yet you told me to leave.”
“I did,” he says. “But I’m a bastard, remember? And not just
any bastard. I’m the one who wants you too damn much now to do what’s right.
You run. I’ll run faster. I’ll come for you.”
Heat rushes up my neck. “Fucking me is safe,” I whisper.
“Fucking me is—”
“Fucking you is perfect,” he says. “And I will fuck you,
Harper. Every way I can think of and every day, but right now, I’m going to
show you more than the bastard. I’m going to make love to you.” His lips part
mine, his tongue stroking deep, stroking long, exploring, and the demand I’d
felt in him when he’d snapped is nowhere to be found. There is just this
sultry, sexy, caress of his tongue that seduces me and tears down my walls.
I am his to do with as he pleases. I am his to please or
otherwise. I think he really will break my heart. I think he knows it, too, but
it’s too late to turn back. We’re on a path together that must be traveled, no
matter where it leads.
