In this second of the sultry, Western-set Coming Home series from New York Times bestselling author Harper Sloan, Quinn Davis might finally have a shot at her own happily-ever-after—but will she let love in, or will she tell it to go ahead and kiss her boots?
Quinn Davis prefers to live her life quietly. She’s the stereotypical tomboy with two overprotective big brothers who have always been there to protect her, especially from devilishly handsome cowboys with silver tongues. That is, until Tate Montgomery comes riding into town. Their first meeting, however, is far from something out of a fairy tale and only further convinces Quinn that men aren’t worth her time.
She's been in love with Tate ever since they were eleven years old. Back then he started to spend the summers in town with his grandparents. But after that one last summer - the summer after the one where she gave him her virginity and they made plans for the future - he never came back.
That was nine years ago.
And now he's back. To take over his late grandfather's doctor's practice.
Quinn still hates him. But she also kind of still loves him.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO QUINN & TATE???
WILL THERE BE A HAPPY END?
WILL THERE BE A HAPPY END?

ADORABLE!
I enjoyed reading this book.
It was another Davis-family-2nd-chance-lovestory.
Just like her brother - Quinn is in love with the one that got away!
And now he's back - and he's super determined to win her back!
Which is not really all that hard, because Quinn understands why he never came back, and they still love each other. But - it's no instant happy end of course .... ☺
It was a really cute romance!
I really loved the story and the characters, but I think it should've been edited a bit better. 50 pages less wouldn't have hurt. It's just too long somehow. But I think that's a Harper Sloan thing. This is only my 3rd book of hers and I just went back to look at my review for the first book in this series and for Perfectly Imperfect and I said the exact same thing about it: too long and complicated sentences et cetera. :(
It just should've been a bit shorter! It would've made it much more interesting. Readers (me!) are bored easily and I'm afraid that this will happen in this case :/
Another thing that turned me off a bit, or rather, a LOT: everybody is leaving out the G's at the end of a ...ING-word!!!! A texan cowboy can talk a bit cowboyish like that, but that was way too much old Texas grandpa! Especially for such a non-cowboy-doctor-hottie like Tate, who hasn't been in Texas for 9 years! I almost stopped reading when they didn't stop talking that way. It sounds like cheap cowboy porn in my head!
Also, the story was a bit boring. Nothing happens. No bad things, no excitement. The only thing that happens is something that we all knew would happen, right at the very beginning when we met Tate's ex hook-up Ella. Predictable. And when it happened it was so uneventful it only used up one page!
But I still loved the book and the people in it !!!! ☺
It was just too long and uneventful for me.
Even though I like it when an author doesn't feel she has to add those horrbile unnecessary drama moments. A bit drama would've been nice in this case!
☺
Great story with much potential. Great characters (who speak in a horrible texan accent!) and lots of funny and sexy moments.
Now I can't wait for Clay's book to be released in December!!!!!
KISS MY BOOTS was an adorable & sexy (and pretty drama-free) second-chance small-town-Texas Romance! Hurry to your nearest amazon asap for your own Doctor Tate - this one is MINE!!!!
Saddle up for Harper Sloan's new Coming Home series, because we are going to be in for a bumpy ride.
This is the second book in the Coming Home series, and is the Davis girl Quinn's story.
I adore Quinn. I love that she isn't all girly girly, she is a mechanic and car restorer, more comfy under a car than meeting people in a bar.
Tate Montgomery is the one that got away - well, the one that went away and never came back - and the one Quinn holds all other men up to.
I liked that this was pretty much angst and drama free. Yeah, there were things from the past that needed to be sorted out, but nothing OTT or too ridiculous.
One thing that did irritate me - Quinn and her "kiss my boots". She sounded like a five year old stomping her feet and chucking a hissy fit, and she said it all the time - but this might just be me.
I loved getting back to Pine Oak and the characters of the town. I loved seeing where Mav and Leighton were up to, and now need to know that Clay finally meets his match and gets his HEA.
