Book one in the CARELESS WHISPERS series. This is a standalone spin-off of the INSIDE OUT series (soon to be a TV show) that follows Ella Ferguson, Sara McMillan's best friend.

Ok - we all remember Ella, right?
She was Sara's best friend and neighbor, who supposedly had a new boyfriend and went to Europe with him? And that was kinda the last we heard of her. Sara tried to find her, but by the end of the #InsideOutSeries she still didn't know where she was. At least that's what I remember about Ella - and I suffer from #BookAlzheimers! So you might want to check your memories or just read the #InsideOutSeries again to make sure!
DENIAL starts with Ella waking up in a hospital room in Rome, Italy.
At least we assume it's Ella, because she can't remember anything. Not her name, not why she is in Italy, not who the hot Kayden guy at her bedside is - NOTHING!
They tell her she's been mugged the night before.
And mysterious (and verrrry hot) Kayden found her and has stayed by her side ever since - also, he's paying for the private hospital.
WHY?
Is he not really the stranger he claims to be??
And who was she running from? Why hasn't anyone reported her missing?
Is Kayden one of the bad guys?
Will she remember who she can trust?
Will everybody survive???
Or will there be a horrible Cliffhanger?
I'm not telling you that, of course!
This is only book #1 of the series, after all ☺!!!!

I couldn’t sleep. I meant to go to the kitchen and then I ended up here because I wanted . . .” His
reaction cuts like his anger. “Just never mind.” I try to move around him but his hands press to
the wall beside me, caging me, and now I’m angry. “Are we doing this again? Don’t bully me.
My stupid flashbacks are doing a fine job of that on their own. I said I’m sorry. Just let me go
back to my room.”
“You wanted what?”
“I wanted you to do what you swore you could,” I blurt, having nothing to lose when everything
is already gone.
“Only I don’t want you to fuck me until I can’t remember my name. I want you to fuck me until I
stop thinking about that man and the gun. Because you were right. Memories are the enemies
that never die. But I know you don’t want—”
His hand slides under my hair and he drags me to him, my hand flattening on the hard wall of his
chest. “I do want. So fucking bad it’s killing me.”
My palm is directly over his heart, and I can feel it racing, the air around us crackling with barely
contained passion. “I don’t need a hero to save my virtue tonight. I need you. So please. Fuck me
and then fuck with my head so no one else can. Let me choose my own sins.”
He is stone, unmoving, his body steel, his expression unreadable, the sexual tension crackling
between us. “You want sin, sweetheart,” he says. “I’ll give you sin.” His mouth closes down on
mine, his tongue licking into my mouth, wicked with demand, and I can taste his hunger, his
need. A deep, aching need I want to fill.

The whole mystery about it. You have no idea who the bad guys are. You just hope that the mysterious sexiness that is Kayden, is the good guy. But you kinda know that he hasn't told her everything yet.
I couldn't put it down. You just have to keep reading to find out what is what...but of course you also know that you probably won't find out much by the end of the book - because there are two more in the series!!! Grrrrrrr. ☺

I have this terrible disease called Booksalzheimer's, and I can forget about a book before I have even put it back on the shelf!
Denial spins off from the Inside Out series, but if you haven't read all of them, it wouldn't matter too much.
You should remember Sara's best friend Ella and how she disappeared, and how Sara was searching for her through her series. She still hadn't been found when that series ended.
This series starts with Ella being found, and suffering amnesia. But as Denial progresses, I was collecting more questions than answers (though if you read Ms Jones' notes at the beginning of the book, she does say this will happen!!)
I adore Kayden - I am still wondering who he is, what he knows, who is he to Ella.
Poor Ella - who is she? Who should she trust? Will she ever remember everything?
There is so much suspense and mystery surrounding Ella, and I really want, no need to know what has happened to her.
I did find that for the first 70% of the story, things did tend to go around in circles a bit, with only small bits of information being released to the reader, and felt that it did drag a little bit (this could just be me though). But the last 30% really ramped things up and when I got to the end I was disappointed there was no more.
As with all Ms Jones' work, she has left the reader wondering what will happen next.
It is going to be a long 6 months until the next part is out!
