♫ Bring Me Home ♫ Nicola Haken ♫

A tale of friendship, acceptance, and second chances...

Hugo Hayes has it all; the voice, the money, the looks. Adored by fans all over the world, there’s nothing more he could ever wish for. Or so it appears. But no one sees what happens off stage. Nobody knows where he came from, what he goes through, where he’s heading…

Except the girl he left behind. She’ll know. She always did.

Helen Jenkins is starting over. Back on the diet and heading for a career change, it’s time to stop wallowing in the past and give up missing the best friend who traded her in for fame and glory eight years ago. Harder than it sounds when his image and voice seem to follow her wherever she goes…

Harder still when he appears at her front door one rainy spring night.

Hugo is falling. After all these years, will Helen still be prepared to catch him before the inevitable crash? Or has he lost the only home he’s ever known, forever?

Every time I pick up a Nicola Haken story, I tell myself that this is the time that she isn't going to wreck me.

Nope. I was wrong - again.

Bring Me Home decimated my heart, but Ms Haken also put it back together.

I love a best friends/second chance tale, and Helen and Hugo is one of the best I have read.

Not just the relationship, but also with the way depression and mental illness is depicted.  There is a rawness to Bring Me Home that resonated so much with me.  I have suffered depression for many years, and it is hard to describe to someone else what it feels like.

However I feel Ms Haken has done this so well. I think I cried for about 50% of this book, as Hugo was me. So much me at my worst.

And Ms Haken nailed it in just 3 words.... "depression just... was". Anyone who has depression will know just how true this is.

Thank you for giving us a realistic, raw story.

♛ Fallen Royal (Mafia Royals #4) ♛ Rachel Van Dyken ♛

A mafia romance about betrayal and faith by Rachel Van Dyken, the number one New York Times bestselling author of the Eagle Elite series.

"The truth may hurt for a little while, but a lie hurts forever."—Ryan Bigge

I grew up knowing it would happen one day.
Believing that I would fall into my father's footsteps and become a monster of my own making.

So I fought it.
I lived.
I loved.
I teased.
And then one day… I destroyed.
And realized I loved the pain.
Obsessed over the feeling.
So I cut again and again and again.

She saw my rage, my madness, and tried to stop me from destroying myself, and I hated her for it, pushing her away past the point of no return.
Izzy Abandonato was supposed to be mine.
But there are some things people can never come back from. I hurt her, she hurt me, and now I'm living a lie. Telling the ones I love that I'm on one side when for years I've been forced to play both.

I'm no angel.
I've fallen.
And I may single-handedly bring down the Cosa Nostra—by default.

I, Maksim Sinacore, will have my vengeance.
I will win her back.
Even if it means I have to kill everyone in my path.
The pain masks the betrayal.
I never realized that one day—I'd be the very rat that I hated. That I was sent to kill. But once you're deep in a lie—you'll do anything to hide the truth.

She fell for the bad one.
She fell for the sinner.
So why does that make me smile?

Holy sh!tballs Rachel Van Dyken! What did I just read??

This is RVD sitting at home as we read

I have been waiting for Maksim's story and wow, what a story it was

Right from the beginning I was "what the heck is going on here?"

This is a story that I feel that you need to go into quite blind, so I won't go into too much detail as you need to feel all the feels for yourself,

Izzy and Maksim wrecked me emotionally, and I am not afraid to say that I cried a bit reading this one.

And don't get me started on the

Say whaaaaat?? I know the next book is coming in December, but man I need to know what is happening there now!

Also, I never thought I would ever say this about my love Chase Abandonato, by my love, I don't think I like you at the moment. However I know that will pass lolol

I can't wait until the next Mafia Royals book.

Dark Romance

Gemma + Kassen #3

We all remember how the second book ended, right? Kassen wanted to let Gemma go, because he hated what he did to her while he was in one of his concussed 'moments'. So he runs away, hoping she'll be gone when he gets back, but that's not the case. She tries to find him, but she finds someone else.
Jareth. One of Kassen's Fable brothers.
What is he doing here? And why now, after so many years?

What will happen with Kas + Gemma?
Will we get a happy end?

READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT ...  😎

I really liked this last book. Well, it's not the last one. There are lots of Fable kids still left to tell us their stories. (GIMME!)
But this was Gemma and Kassen's final book - and I loved it.
I also loved finally seeing another living person in that house and in their life.
Jareth is even more dark and broken than Kas, it seems ... But he's also the push they needed to get out of their 'rut' in that house and get help for their dangerous concussed moments.
I really enjoyed this final book. It was so very sexy and dangerous and heartbreaking and scary ... but also so very hopeful and adorable and sweet and moving. We so hope that Kas and Gemma will get their happily ever after in the real world - but it won't be easy - IF it will happen at all.
Anyway - nothing more to say without spoiling too much.
Perfect final book for our two darlings - and now I can't wait to see what all the others will have to tell us!

If I had to mention something I didn't love-love?! It was a tiny bit too long. Pepper gets a bit too wordy at times. I just want to get to the good parts - I could do without all the poetic thinking... But that's just me - others will love all those beautiful words.

FABLE OF HAPPINESS #3 was the perfect final book in Kas + Gemma's story! Beautiful. Sexy. Heartbreaking. Scary. Full of hope. READ IT!
