Gavin and Dakota seem so different on the outside, but as we get to know them, we see how similar they really are.
Both are trying to move on from pasts that have rattled their confidence, neither are looking for love, but both are looking to move on and just keep breathing.
And when they do that together, it was just a wonderful tale to read.
I liked that, even though this was a "hockey" romance, it is more hockey adjacent, with a GM and a member of the health care team.
I also liked that there was no big GFY moment. Both guys are out, proud of who they are and their sexuality. It was a bit of breath air after the m/m books I have been reading lately.
And it is more than about the romance. It is about family, whether it is blood or found family. Its about forgiveness. About moving forward with your life. About starting afresh.
I don't know how I missed the first book in the Scoring Chances series, but I will definitely be going back to read it soon
