At Santa Cruz Central High School, they called them the misfits, the outcasts, the weirdos. But most of us knew them as the Lost Boys...

Ronan Wentz has been to hell and back, and he carries the scars to prove it. Worse, the blood of a monster runs through his veins, but after ten years in foster care, eighteen-year-old Ronan is finally reunited with family. His uncle gives him a roof over his head and puts him to work, managing a shabby apartment complex in Santa Cruz, California.

But a second chance is still a second chance. Ronan becomes a solitary hunter, a vigilante, walking the streets at night to keep the nightmares at bay. If he can use the anger burning in his tainted blood to protect instead of hurt, maybe then he’ll find the absolution he seeks.

Then he meets Shiloh.

Shiloh Barrera looks like she has it all together. Smart, ambitious and full of artistic creativity she channels into making beautiful, one-of-kind jewelry. But Shiloh’s cool, capable demeanor is a front. Her demons drive her to succeed as much as her ambitionto prove her worth to the mother who cant stand to look at her, and whos harboring secrets of her own.

When Shiloh and Ronan meet, the physical attraction is instant and scorching. Neither believe it will last. Falling in love is an impossible pipe dream saved for those less shattered and damaged than they are.

But as hard as they try to resist, the growing feelings between them seem inevitable until one terrible night destroys Shilohs dreams and Ronans future. When the smoke clears, and the rubble settles, they’ll have to choose - do their pasts determine their future, or can they build a new one from the broken pieces of their hearts?

Lost Boys is a new series of interconnected, coming-of-age standalones from USA Today bestselling author Emma Scott.

Ronan + Shiloh
We already met them in the first books.
Ronan has been in and out of foster homes for more than half his life. Now he's finally 'home'. His uncle brought him to Santa Cruz to work as the building manager in one of his two run-down apartment buildings. Ronan loves helping people. He needs to save everyone who needs saving. Once, a long time ago he couldn't help and the nightmare still won't leave him.
Shiloh is a pretty happy girl - on the outside.
She lives with her great-grandma Bibi and is busy starting her own jewelry store. If she could, she would be in her workshop 24/7.
On the inside Shiloh is just as sad and broken as Ronan. Just a bit different.
Can those two lost souls find their happily ever after with each other?

What will happen with Shiloh + Ronan?
Will there be a Happily Ever After???

Ugh! What do you expect when you start reading an Emma Scott romance?
ALL THE FEELS! Obviously.
And we got that.
I already adored the first books and I couldn't wait to get my hands on these two darlings!
And I loved them. Not only them of course - Miller and Holden too! The three stories basically happen at the same time, so they're in here a lot too.

But back to Shiloh and Ronan.
They both kind of have way too much on their minds about what happened in the past and what will happen in the future. They think they're not the right person for a real relationship. But of course we can't stay away from each other either. ☺
It's really adorable.
But also so very sad. Both have those silly ideas that whatever their parents did or are ... is exactly what they are and will do. They were a bit too much for me with their constant bad thoughts. Why did nobody ever sent those two to a therapist. They could've used that.
And then towards the end - when the big secret is revealed. I was so disappointed. I was expecting somehthing super creative and amazing, but it was just the usual horrible thing that you knew it would be the first second you heard about the mom. Really disappointing.
Another thing I didn't love in this book. The sexy times. I love a good sexy time in my books, but ... There's just too much! How much oral does a book need? Not that much! The book could've been a hundred pages shorter with a bit of sexy times cut and a few self-hate pages cut. The book is just a tiny bit too long.

BUT - don't think I hated the story. I loved reading this. I LOVED Ronan and Shiloh and Bibi. And of course Miller and Holden.
Ugh. I so need to see this whole world on Netflix one day soon!
Such a beautiful series!

THE BUTTERFLY PROJECT

Emma Scott writes romances with flawed characters, characters with artistic hearts: builders, poets, and writers of various makes and models. Emma loves to write book lovers; those who have found refuge, companionship, and escape in books, much as we all do in real life. She digs realism, honesty, authenticity in storytelling. She also loves to write about enduring love, soul-deep love, in as real a setting as possible, but with big smooshy HEAs. Emma believes in diversity, open-mindedness, and inclusion. She adores sweetness mixed with steam, love conquering all, and above all, hope. Love always wins.
