My so-called family lied.
My friends lied.
The only guy I ever liked lied.
My mentor, the one I was supposed to trust lied.
My entire existence is built on lies and yet now they want my help. Scratch that, now
they need my help. I'll play the good soldier, but I am no longer the person I was before. This time it will be on my terms. I will trust no one.
I am a weapon. I am Jordyn.
Review:
I am not a huge paranormal/fantasy reader, but I do like to indulge a little every now and again, and I did enjoy Jordyn and the Caverns of Gloom.
At the end of book 1, Jordyn discovered that everyone she thought of as her family had lied to her.
She left everyone behind, including the man she thought she might love, Emrys.
5 weeks later, they have tracked her down to tell her that her friends have been kidnapped by Daemons, and she is the only one who can save them.
Reconciled with her 'family', Jordyn trains for the most dangerous mission of her life.
The descriptions of the Caverns, the wastelands they are travelling through drag you right into the scene.
I have not read Jordyn A Daemon Hunter novel, but I think you learn enough from the beginning of Caverns of Gloom to get the gist of what happened previously.
I loved the fact that Jordyn was not a pushover. She is a young, witty, spirited She stands up for herself, says no, argues with those trying to push her. And she is a kick-arse fighter! Go Girl!
All in all I did enjoy Jordyn and the Caverns of Gloom, even though it is not the typical genre I do get into. I will have to go back and read the first book and get more background on the characters and what lead Jordyn down the path she took.
It is tame book when it comes to language, so the series would be a great read for teens as well as adults.
