Underestimated by Jettie Woodruff - Review and giveaway

© Janeane

Warning! This is not your everyday fall in love romance. This book contains disturbing situations, strong language, graphic, sexual content, some forced, some not. If it's your happily ever after love story that you are looking for, you should probably move on. If you are up for the ride, stick around and it may just turn into a love story after all.

Morgan starts her life in a bad situation, she doesn't really know what she wants out of life. She's never had anyone to look up to, or help guide her in the right direction. She had it rough, and never dreamed that it could get worse, however she finds that it can, and does.

She learns what real hell is when she meets the husband that she doesn't want to marry, but isn't given a choice. Can she escape? She can, and does only to wake up and find herself right back at square one

 Excerpt:

This could not be happening. It was like one of those movies that kept you on the end of your seat, waiting to see what happened. I went around the bus, and Derik was now right behind me. I shot back in front of the bus and took the next street to the right. I kept darting in and out of traffic, up and down different streets with Derik right on my tail.

I finally got out of the city enough to get some speed, still passing cars, illegally. I didn
t care. I would have loved for the cops to see me and stop me. They didnt, and I was left to fend for myself. I was a few cars ahead of him when I came up on a sports car with the top down, full of young girls. They were yelling and having the time of their life, but they were driving too slowly. I knew I shouldnt try it. I couldnt see if anything was coming from the little knoll.

I darted around them, and I was right. I shouldn
t have done it. Neither I nor the city bus driver had time to react before my car was under his bumper. I dont remember much after that. I could vaguely recall sirens, voices and the sound of a saw. I was hot. I was so hot, and I could smell smoke. Was the car on fire? Was I being cut out of the car? I didnt know. I was drifting away. I felt my body becoming lighter and lighter as I floated into the dark.

Im sorry, Dawson

Review
Morgan/Riley is one seriously messed up woman.  She doesn't want to be, but life and events have conspired against her to make her this way.  And she wants out of it.

Forced to marry Drew Kelley on her 18th birthday after being sold to him on her 18th birthday, things go from bad to worse.  No matter how bad her childhood was, nothing compares to married life.

After years of abuse, she finally gets up the nerve to leave - to disappear without a trace.

Morgan transforms herself into Riley Murphy and moves to small town Misty Bay, Maine.  She tries to keep her past a secret, but as she becomes closer to people, her secrets start to come out.

Falling in love with the small town Sheriff Dawson, she thinks she can have everything she wanted if she can keep Drew in her past.  But he has a way of messing with her head, even after all this time

A chance run in with her past leads to more complications for her new relationship, along with her old one.

Can new love with Dawson be enough to help her with her past..... for that you will have to read!

Jettie Woodruff has written a wonderful, heartbreaking story.  I could completely feel the horror that Morgan went through.  I may or may not have shed a few tears along the journey we are taken on.

And the journey may have taken us places like this:

and here:
Drew and Dawson are complete opposites.  Drew 1.0 is an evil, horrible being that deserves no sympathy, while Dawson is the sweet, loving, adorable man Morgan/Riley needs.

But then Drew 2.0 - hmmm nope, not going to talk about him.

Will Morgan get the HEA she deserves?  Read Underestimated to find out!

You will be in for a ride on the

About the Author:
Jettie Woodruff is a practicing physician and has been a Civil War buff for decades. No. Not really, she is not a doctor nor is she a Civil War buff. She is however a goof-off and has a hard time being serious for too long.

She does enjoy a challenge when it comes to her writing. She feels as though she needs to pull every emotion possible from her readers. She wants you to be pissed off, questioning your sanity, depressed, happy, and hopefully turn your mind from wanting to cut the villain into tiny little pieces to loving him by the end of the book.

Underestimated was her first dark endeavor. It was a goal alongside of writing a series, a standalone romance, a young adult, which she can
t check that one off. She tried she really did, but her mind just doesnt work outside the gutter and it quickly became rated X.

Jettie lives on 163 acres in a rural part of
Ohio. She loves living in Ohio, except maybe the snow, and the long winters, maybe the hot summers too, Ah, hell, she hates Ohio. She does love the land and the solitude of the country. She just wishes it was in a geographically in a better part of the country.

Jettie has two grown children and one who will be eighteen in a matter of days. YES!!! She has also recently just had her first, cutest ever, most adorable, granddaughter in the whole world. Her oldest daughter just hit her with the news that she will be adding another grandchild to the family in February. Although she is sure she will fall in love with the little creature, she still can
t say the G word.

Jettie enjoys reading as much as she loves writing. She has way too many favorites to list, but one of her all-time favorites from years ago was the Casteel series from V.C. Andrews. One of her new favorites is C.J. Robert
s, Captive series. Reading it gave her that needed push that she required to say the hell with what people think and write Underestimated.

By day Jettie is wearing business attire and managing a mattress store. By night she is in front of a keyboard or her Kindle, wearing, well let
s not go there. Underestimated was her fifth book published. The first one was just shy of a disaster, not that it was a bad book. People liked it. She just knew nothing about it, no revising, no editing, just a spur of the moment. Oh, I wrote a book, lets publish it. Train wreck and a half. Her Star series was one of her favorites and is held dear to her heart. She is now working on an adult romance that should be live around the end of August, early September. She cant seem to stay focused on it at the moment, due to a much needed Bahamas vacation coming up with Adam Levines walking around half naked, buying her drinks.

Enthrall by Vanessa Fewings - Review

This is the world of the forbidden. This is the embrace of Enthrall.

Mia Lauren is a single, twenty-one-year old working in a
West Hollywood art store who dreams of one day becoming a fashion designer. When an unexpected offer arises to work at Enthrall, L.A.'s premier fetish club for the wealthy, Mia accepts. It's a salary beyond her wildest imagination.

Mia becomes the secretary to the club's assistant director, blond and broody Richard Booth. Richard is not only one of
L.A.'s most beautiful and wealthiest men, he is also the club's senior dominant. Mia is both drawn and terrified when he reveals flashes of his white-hot passion, threatening an unbound pleasure like no other. She knows her attraction may be her undoing, but the spellbinding feelings render her powerless to resist his advances.

What Mia cannot know is that Enthrall's dashing director thirty-year-old Cameron Cole, who is also the club's psychiatrist, has lured Mia to save his best friend and patient Richard from his obsession with thrill seeking. Cameron masterfully sets up sexy scenarios to ensure the collision of Richard and Mia, hoping that love will save him.

However, despite Cameron's noble intentions, he also finds himself enticed by Mia's haunting innocence. Passion and pleasure stir, forming a dangerous love triangle. This is the world of the forbidden. This is the embrace of Enthrall.

Excerpt

Richard blinked through dark blond lashes. You realize what it is I want to do to you?

Yes.

With the window closed, this room lacked the air we both needed so desperately. From the way his chest rose and fell he too must have felt short of breath.

He raised his chin in defiance. Say it.

You want to dominate me.

Subjugate you. He stepped closer. Control you. Conquer you. His left hand rested against my chest and he eased me back against the wall again and pressed hard. Fuck you.

Oh please.

He looked hesitant. Mia, I have never taken on an untrained submissive.

What does that mean?

Theyve always come to me primed.

Primed?

Already trained.

By who? I sucked in my breath. Cameron?

Richard stepped closer and brushed a stray hair out of my eyes.

I want it to be you, I said softly.

You deserve someone better than me.

Dont I get a say?

Right up until the moment you agree to become my submissive. Then all choice is lost. He narrowed his gaze. You wouldnt want that. Would you?
My legs felt weak. I breathed a sigh of sadness when his hand fell once more to his side, threatening never to touch me again.

You and I are miles apart, he said.

Are you trying to convince yourself? Or me?

What is our common ground?

You dont think Im good enough for you? My voice broke with emotion. Is that it?

Other way round. He looked intently. You are innocence incarnate.

I broke his gaze, my heart aching with the thought Id failed him, failed me.
My inner musing told me to stay strong, tell him want I really wanted, needed. Him, it had only ever been him.

My words flowed from an unfamiliar place. Im returning to the balcony. If you find the strength to face what we both know, that theres real chemistry between us, join me. Ask me out on a date. I may even say yes. I picked up his glass of wine and strolled off with it, leaving him standing there. I headed across the living room and out onto the balcony.

Facing the breeze, I let it wash over me, inhaling the freshest air. This place offered a new start. The promise of fulfillment close enough to touch
If I dared to reach out to it.

After several minutes of savoring the view, I regretted my outburst, letting him know my true feelings. I downed the rest of the wine, taking pleasure from knowing his lips had brushed where mine were now on the glass. The softest sigh escaped me.

I turned around

Richard leaned against the balcony doorjamb. Start slow? His alluring blue gaze burning fiercely into mine.

Slow.

Are you sure this is something you want? he whispered. Im not good at compromise.

I know.

What do you have in mind? he said.

Chrysaliss party tomorrow night. Let me go with you.

He twisted his mouth as though mulling over it.

Pick me up tomorrow at six, I said.

Richard stepped onto the balcony. You do realize Im the dominant. He towered over me, emphasizing his point. An issue you would be wise not to forget.

Damn, that turned me on.

I stretched out my arms to either side and clutched the handrail. Your irises dilate when I push back.

Dont push back. Cameron warned he prefers malleable.

Could I be this woman? Could I fall at Richards feet and become his sex slave? What was I willing to give up in order to become his lover? His submissive.

Everything.

Id do anything.

He shifted closer. What else do you see?

That you want this as much as I do.

Some things are inevitable.  His expression softened, his face now serene. I have so much to show you.

I want that.

Mia. He narrowed his gaze, his intensity returning. Are you truly ready for such blinding pleasure?

A flurry of what felt like butterflies burst out of my chest. Tingles of excitement caused me to shiver, and an exquisite ache in my belly settled low. In the deepest depths of my soul I felt ready for this, for him.

Its a good thing were not alone, he said.

Not that it matters, I said. I only ever see you.

Richards frown dissolved and he ran his fingers through his golden locks.

Ill see you tomorrow then, I whispered breathlessly, melting in the wake of his stunning smile.

Review - ARC received from author for honest review

Firstly, this is not a BDSM book - yes it is set around the BDSM culture, but very little BDSM is involved.  If you are after a book with a lot of whips, chains and kinky sex, this is not that book.

Virginal 21 year old Mia applies for the receptionist's job at Enthrall.  Alone in the world except for her seriously ill step-mother, she needs this job to pay medical bills.

First day on the job, she mistakes her boss for a client, and tries to stop him entering his office, and here the sexual tension begins.
The sparks between Mia and her boss Richard fly immediately.

For the first time in her life, Mia wants a man.  This gorgeous, sexy man, emotionally damaged man.  So of course, he pushes her away. Mia may be sexually inexperienced, but she is not lacking in life experience.  Life has been cruel to her, but she survived.

It was a refreshing change to have the 'lamb' chasing the lion.  So many books out there where the rich, gorgeous man chases down the virgin.  I liked how the tables were turned in Enthrall.

Richard is confused - he wants Mia with his whole being, but he feels that he is not the kind of man Mia needs.

With a bit of manipulating from Richard's business partner and best friend Cameron, and the girls who work at Enthrall, Mia and Richard are forced into situations that helps their relationship along.

Enthrall is a story of lust and love, pleasure and pain, friendship and family.  It has a bit of it all, and was all well written.

There were times that I laughed out loud, or I had a tear in my eye or a smile on my face.

There were a couple of twists along the way that I definitely was not expecting, and and ending that made me go "what the heck is happening here?".  It is not a cliffhanger ending as such, but it is definitely setting things up for another book.

This was my first reading experience of Vanessa Fewings work, and I was pleasantly surprised.  I did not really know what to expect when I received this book, but I was not at all disappointed, and will definitely look out for more.
