Review by Janeane - ARC received for an honest review

We first meet Grant Kendal in Second Chances, however Second Nature is a completely different beast.

After helping protect Claira/Gabby in Second Chances, Grant decides it is time for him to go "dark", to get off the grid and to find himself again.  After years of working as a killer for the government, he has had enough and wants to find himself again.

We now find Grant here..
He has gotten used to being a hermit, the only company being Winston, a cheeky trouble making monkey.
When Thalia washes up on his beach, he drags her into the world of human trafficking. And wow, does DL Roan get us right into the work.

Thalia is a survivor.  Strong, feisty but distrustful - which is not surprising when you learn of what she has been through.

Second Nature is like a movie screenplay!  While the basis of it is human trafficking, it is also a love story.  Thalia has been on her own for so long, so it is hard for her to give up control, but when it comes to sexy dominant Grant, she can't help herself.  And he has never been one to believe in love, but he can't keep away from Thalia.

First Kiss
The sunlight sparkled like diamonds against the drops of water that beaded across Grants broad chest and raced along the cuts and dips between his washboard abs. His dark blue board shorts, soaked and clinging to his equally muscled thighs, hung low on his hips. A thin trail of golden curls raced between the hard lines of his narrow hips, disappearing beneath his waistband. Only a blind woman would miss the outline of his perfectly defined erection. Holy sin on a stick, he is packing.
His arms and legs moved with the grace of a jungle cat stalking its prey, the tight strands of muscles bunching and stretching beneath his skin with every step. His right hand was wrapped tight around the black grip of a pistol, the thick tendons in his wrist flexing as he tightened and loosened his grip. She followed the ripple of movement to his rounded shoulder, his neck, and then up to the chiseled lines of his face. Her lungs seized with feminine lust, mixed with a healthy dose of fear as she locked eyes with the lethal beast inside him. Hes going to kill me.
The fire in Grants eyes blazed with a heat as tangible as the suns rays beating relentlessly against her skin. She didnt know the first thing about this man, other than the fact that he was dangerous and locked onto her like a fast moving freight train. He hadnt hurt her yet, but that didnt mean he wouldnt kill her. Still, she couldnt make herself move or even look away. Something inside her was drawn to the beast residing within the man; to the absolute power and strength that wrecked her senses.
Paralyzed, she was powerless to resist as his hard, lean body crashed into hers, trapping her against his hot, wet skin. His hands tangled in her hair, his desperate grip holding her captive to his assault, his lips crushing against hers with frantic need.
We are taken on an amazing ride.  We have love and hate, fear and faith, family.
Oh, and there is one hell of a twist in this tale.  I kind of had an idea of what might happen but to have it confirmed was a "wow" moment.
I have never really thought much about human trafficking.  It is something we hear about on news stories, but never really give it an afterthough. After reading Thalia's story, it makes me wonder about the thousands of people who go through this every day.  Those taken, the families left behind. It would be a horrible thing to go through, the not knowing.
I thoroughly enjoyed Second Nature and would love to read more of DL Roan's work.

About the Author
D.L. Roan lives and writes in her "beautifully wild and southern" home state of Florida with her "perfectly flawed hero" husband and two 80lb lap dogs.
Completely addicted to the written word, she's had a brood of characters residing inside her imagination for as long as she could remember. Being able to bring them to life and let them out to play has been a life's dream fulfilled.
Romance has always been her favored genre. While erotica is her favored spicy flavor, she also enjoys paranormal fantasy and has been known to stalk the work of certain historical romance writers.
In addition to exorcizing her characters' lusts, D.L. enjoys scuba diving, fishing, and sitting by a bonfire on a starry night. She loves to hear from her fans so check her out on Facebook or send her a tweet.
