At Santa Cruz Central High School, they called them the misfits, the outcasts, the weirdos. But most of us knew them as the Lost Boys...

Holden Parish survived his parents' horrific attempts to make him "the perfect son." After a year's stint in a Swiss sanitarium to recover, he has vowed to never let anything--or anyone--trap him again. Brilliant but broken, he seeks refuge behind alcohol, meaningless sex, and uses his wicked sense of humor to keep people away. He only has to ride out one year in the coastal town of Santa Cruz with his aunt and uncle before he inherits his billions and can make his escape. Disappear.

Falling in love is not in the plans.

River Whitmore. Star quarterback of the Central High football team, Prom King, Mr. Popular, ladies' man. He leads the perfect life...except it's all a lie. His father has River's future in the NFL all planned out, while River's dream is to run the family business in the town that he loves. But his mother's illness is tearing the family apart and River is becoming the glue that holds them together. How can he break his father's heart when it's already shattering?

River's carefully-crafted façade explodes when he meets Holden Parish. A guy who dresses in coats and scarves year-round, drinks expensive vodka, and spends his free time breaking into houses for the fun of it. They're complete opposites. River seeks a quiet life, away from the spotlight. Holden would rather have dental surgery than settle down.

Holden's demons and River's responsibilities threaten to keep them apart, while their undeniable attraction crashes them together again and again, growing into something deep and real no matter how they resist.

Until one terrible night changes everything.

Lost Boys is a new series of interconnected, coming-of-age standalones.

Holden and River.
We already met those two in the first book.
Holden is the new beautiful, mysterious, weird guy in school and River is the prom king, quarterback, pride of the town sunny boy.
But they both have their secrets and pains. And dreams or nightmares about the past and the future.
Falling in love with each other was definitely not on the menu.

What will happen with Holden & River?
Will there be a Happily Ever After???

♥ EXCERPT ♥

On the stage, Miller spoke into the mic in a low, almost shy voice. “Hey, my name is
Miller Stratton. I’m going to play a song by Coldplay. It’s called ‘Fix You.’”
I let my gaze slide to Holden, studying the contours of his profile—his chiseled jaw and
cheekbones, strong nose, full lips. He swallowed, and I watched the movement of his Adam’s apple. Thoroughly masculine. Nothing feminine about it.
“Can I help you?” he whispered, eyes forward.
“It sucks not talking to you,” I said, as Miller strummed the first chords of the song. “I
don’t know why. You’re arrogant as fuck.”
“Fair. You’re a grilled cheese sandwich.”
I snorted. “A what?”
“Shh,” Holden said. “Listen. This is our song.”
Our song. Nothing was ours. There was no us. But Miller sang that if you never try you’ll never know, and the words pierced me like arrows.
I took my hand out of my pocket and let it hang by my side again. Again, my skin
brushed Holden’s, sending shards of heat dancing up my arm while Miller sang about lights that ignite your bones.
I looked at Holden and he looked at me.
Without letting myself think, I slipped my fingers around the side of his hand and slid my palm against his. He gasped slightly—a small intake of breath only I heard in the darkened auditorium. Then he let his hand settle into mine. Another heartbeat, and our fingers laced together.
“And I will try,” Miller sang, his rich voice hovering in the air in that silent auditorium.
“To fix you.”
A short silence fell before the crowd erupted in thunderous cheers, unlike anything I’ve ever heard. Miller’s version of the song was unlike anything I’d ever heard either, as if he were singing directly to me. To us.
Because it’s our song.
Under the cover of applause, I let go of Holden’s hand and tugged the cuff of his coat.
“Let’s go.”
I left without looking back but heard Holden’s footfalls following. Warning bells clanged in my head but were drowned in the thrashing beat of my heart that felt as it were trying to break free of its prison like it had at the pool. Only this time I was stone cold sober. No excuses.
I pushed open the door next to the auditorium—the back area of the band room that was for instrument storage. Huge basses loomed in dimness, and drums of all sizes and styles lined the walls.
Holden followed me in and shut the door behind him. “Hello, friend.”
“I put in my college applications,” I said as he approached me in the darkness. “I’m going away to Texas or maybe Alabama this summer.”
“Establishing the rules, are you?” he drawled, though his voice was thick and tinged with nerves.
I swallowed hard. “Nothing’s changed. Nothing can change.”
“I told you,” Holden said, in front of me now. “I’ll never ask you for anything. I don’t
have anything to give. Except this.”
I wanted to tell him that wasn’t true, that I was the one who had nothing to offer. I
shouldn’t have led us here. I should walk out, but his goddamn voice, the scent of him, his presence was overwhelming. My hands itched to touch him, to grab him and…

Kiss him?
My first kiss with a guy. It seemed as if I’d been waiting a lifetime for it and yet the
moment was rushing at me like a speeding train.
“Stop thinking, River,” Holden whispered. “We’re here. Right now.” He leaned in.
“What are you going to do?”

THE BUTTERFLY PROJECT

Emma Scott writes romances with flawed characters, characters with artistic hearts: builders, poets, and writers of various makes and models. Emma loves to write book lovers; those who have found refuge, companionship, and escape in books, much as we all do in real life. She digs realism, honesty, authenticity in storytelling. She also loves to write about enduring love, soul-deep love, in as real a setting as possible, but with big smooshy HEAs. Emma believes in diversity, open-mindedness, and inclusion. She adores sweetness mixed with steam, love conquering all, and above all, hope. Love always wins.

✪ Storm Damage ✪ CP Smith ✪

Logan Storm, an ex-Delta Force sniper, with scars on the inside, is drifting through life on his way to nowhere. While trying to make peace with his past, Logan
encounters a young bar owner and her brothers, with trouble brewing the size of Montana.

Skylar James is worn out. She's trying to raise her two teenage brothers and hold on to the only home they’ve ever known: 500 acres won by her father in a poker game before they were born.

Luckily for Skylar, Logan finds the peace he’s been looking for in the all-American beauty and decides to stick around Ennis, Montana just as adversaries renew
old feuds and bodies begin to pile up in the aftermath.

It feels an absolute age since we have had a new story from CP Smith.  However, it has been worth every single second of the wait to get Storm Damage.

You know what you are going to get with one of her stories.  Alpha man. Strong woman. Insta-love (I am not a big fan of the insta-love, but it doesn't worry me with CP's stories as the stories are so well plotted out, it doesn't feel real quick).

Logan and Skylar's story is all that and a bag of chips. I was consumed from the minute I opened up this book until I regretfully put it down after the last word.  Regretfully, as I didn't want it to end.

There is murder, mystery and mayhem as you read.  You pretty well know who is doing stuff, but it is the journey of the why that takes you on a rollercoaster of a story.  Just when you think things are sorted out, BAM, you turn the page and are again blown away.

Ms Smith gives us such well rounded out characters.  Logan and Skylar are fighting to find their peace, and with the help of family and friends, maybe they can find it.  Skylar's brothers and her best friends are amazing, and I neeeeeed Jamie's story to happen.  Things are alluded to in this book so I hope we get her story in the futute.

I am a bit over the alpha-hole thing in my books, however Logan Storm is very much the exception to that rule for me at the moment. And that all comes down to Ms Smith's writing.

Now I need to move to Montana, find me a Logan (or heck, maybe I can find Dutton Ranch whilst I am there) and live happily every after!

CP Smith lives in Oklahoma with her husband and five children. She loves football, reading, and card games. Writing for her is about escape. She writes what she loves to read, and leaves the rest to those with better imaginations.

Xander
If I had to describe Sean Bailey, it would be as the sexy, caring, wonderful man I’ve gone and fallen in love with. I never could’ve imagined a world where he was my everything. But with each passing day, the connection between us grows stronger, and the idea of a world without him is something I can’t imagine.

But Sean’s love doesn’t come without complications. As the older brother of my lifelong best friend, this new love has caused relationships to break down and communication to become stilted, and the one question that remains is: am I willing to give up the love and friendship of one for the chance of love and forever with another?

Sean
I didn’t mean to fall in love with Alexander Thorne, my brother’s ex and the number one prime-time news anchor in the country. I mean, no one could’ve seen that comingleast of all me. But thats exactly what happened over these past couple of months: I fell in love.

That’d be complicated enough, I suppose, but Xander? Well, he fell in love with me too, and while it’s caused some major upset in the dynamics around here, I have to believe that a love this real can only lead to somewhere amazing.

This thing between us started out as a job, a friend helping out a friend. But after playing the role of Xander’s boyfriend, I find myself wanting the job full-time, because neither of us are playing anymore.

Headlines is the final book of the Prime Time Series and should only be read after book one, Inside Affair, and book two, Breaking News.

Le sigh... we have come to the end of the Prime Time series, and I is a sad panda 😥
We start where book 2, Breaking News ended, and for me this was a much more emotional book than the first two.

Sean and Xander are set in their relationship, and are just wishing those around them *cough cough Bailey cough cough* could get with it.  Sheesh, he was like a 2 year old who had his toy taken away.  I loved the way Henri helped Sean with this one. Bailey needed a spanking (though he would probably like that too much for it to be a punishment!!)

I did find myself shedding a couple of tears this time around. There were some very heart wrenching scenes I tell ya!

I am always sad when a series ends.  I am always "what am I going to do now?" Well, now I am going to hope that we get the story of the other Bailey brother, Kieran.  As I feel that we need to meet the person who brings him to his knees.

Oooooh, maybe he can meet Ryan, who works with Xander.  As I need to see his story play out too!

Xander and Sean #3

PLEASE READ BOOKs #1 & #2 BEFORE READING THIS THIRD BOOK & THIS REVIEW!

Book #3 ... and everything is going pretty great for our two boys. They're falling more in love with each other every day. They're happy living together.
Xander is ready to go back to work.
Everything could be perfect.
But ... Sean's little brother, aka Xander's ex and best friend Bailey ... he's not on board with things yet. He feels betrayed and refuses to talk to Sean and Xander ...

Perfect last book!
I just love those two boys!
Total opposites, but so very perfect for each other.
It's just Bailey who is making everything difficult for them!
Well, Bailey and their overall teenage-ness. Jeez. Guys! You're almost 40 years old and behave like kids who had their toy taken away! LOL!

I loved reading this series - even though I still would've preferred to only get one book - I don't like trilogies (too much waiting for my bookalzheimer brain!). And other than a few sexy and adorable and moving moments, there wasn't much happening in this book - just like in the 2nd one. One bigger book instead of three little ones would've been so much better.

BUT - I still loved reading this and I can't wait to see what Ella brings us next! Like Kieran and his sexy fire fighters! ☺
