Blog Tour and giveaway - My Today (My Way #2) by HJ Bellus

Laceys Story

Covering up pain is easy. Its keeping it tucked away thats hard. Ive always needed the cover of tattoos to hide the nasty past that leached its way into me, tainting me beneath my skin. Not the shiny, trendy tats, but the ugly broken kind, meant to keep the world at bay. If they werent enough, then my piercings, foul mouth and crazy hair usually did the trick. Life had taught me to never follow the rules, because when you do, you get burned.

That philosophy served its purpose, until I met someone who turned my life upside down. Milly, the little hoochie, stormed into my life and changed everything with her undying faith in me, her love and her shitty coffee concoctions. I found a family in Milly, and her sexy farm boy, Cree. She accepted me without hesitation, and never ran from the dark and dangerous secrets that I harbored. My new family loved me unconditionally, with their showers of sprinkles and impromptu dance parties.

My life was perfectly imperfect until Tripp and his crazy-ass ideas of princesses. Our relationship is what most would describe as fuel meeting fire. We were both hell bent on burning each other to the ground. Tripp, fresh out of rehab, moved in with Milly and Cree to try and make a new life for himself. Tripp, the sexy as hell, charismatic beast, soon became one of my best friends. We shared our love of ice cream and tattoos as we blazed our own path that could only lead to a beautiful train wreck. The only question left is, will we set the countryside ablaze with our hot tempers and foul mouths, or will we paint our own happy ending filled with all the gushy shit normal people crave?

Review by Janeane - ARC received for honest review

My Today is book 2 in HJ Bellus' "My Way" series, and though I have not read book 1 (My Forever and Now) but this in now way detracted from this story, and I will be going back to read it in the future.

Lacey has had a terrible childhood, and now noone tells her what to do or who she should be.  She is rude, crude and tattooed - and I love the hell out of her!  If she was real she would be my best friend.

Tripp is her best friend's cousin by marriage.  He has also had tragedy in his past, and has dealt with it with drugs and women.  He has lost his dream, his career, and is now working on his cousin' farm, to lick his wounds and get himself straight

After a drunken hook up after her best friend's wedding, their lives change for the better.

My head felt like it was going to freaking explode at any moment.  I should have stopped drinking after Milly and Cree left the reception.  This was going to hurt, but I had to open my eyes, I thought to myself.  A warm and hard-oh, very hard-body was wrapped around me.  Greyson?  Oh, hell no it couldn’t be Greyson.  Jesus Christ, did I bang Greyson?  I could feel the morning wood pressing into my hip, so I knew it couldn’t be a girl this time.  It was always so much easier when it was a girl.  Well, here goes nothing.

Lacey and Tripp together are a hot mess.  Friends with benefits?  No, they were never just that, there was always the simmering undercurrent of attraction, lust, sexual tension whenever they were in each other's orbit.

They are both still in their own personal hell, but being by each other's side, they might just make it through.  Maybe not unburnt, but they might make it through.

I love love love the interactions between Lacey and best friend Milly.  These are my kind of girls.  They aren't prissy well behaved girls.  They drink, the act up, the swear like sailors.  They are also each other's fiercest defenders and critics.

Tripp and Cree are so close, and the only family that Tripp really has.

Tripp's father - what a dick!  Horrible horrible man.

This story shows how family is who you choose to have in your life, who loves you no matter what. That you do not have to share blood to be family.

The scene stealer in My Today is Annie.  7 years old, snickers addicted Annie.  She is fantastic and has everyone, especially Tripp, wrapped around her little finger.

As messed up as Lacey and Tripp are, they are perfect for each other.

This is the first book I have read from HJ Bellus, and I can be sure that it will not be the last.  Her writing style was refreshing, and though you read the synopsis and think "oh this kind of story again", it was deliciously different to what I thought I was going to get.

There was a twist in this tale which had me doing a double take as I first read it.

Book 3 will be about Willow (also in this little group/family) and all I have to say is

I'm just a simple girl who loves the country life.. .oh yeah! & a good corn dog! Throw in a little Vanilla Ice, and shits bound to get crazy! Be brave...
