(Don't worry - we're not leaving this world yet. We already meet the darlings from the first book in the Highlands Trilogy in this book - a lot!)
I loved reading this.
Even though I hate going back in time in books. No idea why I hate it. Probably because I want my people to get their happily ever after now and to not dig around in their pasts so much and so often.
But then as soon as I start reading, I always love those back-in-time chapters. I just hate the ideo of them. I know - I'm weird.
Anyhoo - I loved this story. I love this whole family and the location and just everything.
We get a super adorable and heartbreaking second chancy thing here. Not really second chance, because they were never really a couple. I hated how those two wasted so many years. They're 37 now! They could've celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary soon! Ugh. But we get this second chance - even if it takes them a while ... and we love being witness to everything! All the grumpy and adorable and heartbreaking and sweet and exciting and sparky and sexy and dangerous moments.
Like I already said in my reviews for the first books - I could totally imagine this as an amazing Netflix show. We already basically 'see' everything Sam writes about. She describes everything so beautifully. The people, the places... everything. I really need to see this on the screen!
