Well, that was adorable!
A fun & exciting & really sexy lawyer/business romance!
There's this huge insta attraction between them, but also all that hate and the past and business and fathers and ... so much to overcome. But we love watching them fight and fight some more. With or without clothes! So much fun for the reader.
But just like the first books in this series, this one was way too long for me. There's too much back and forth between Reid and Carrie. She hates him, he only wants to 'intimate reLationship' her out of his system. Multiple times. She does too. Then not. Then yes. No. Yes. Let's do it. Again. No. Arguing. Fighting. Yelling. IntimAte Relations. Again. No. Yes. Yesss! No. Never again. Hate you. Hate you too. Secrets. No. Yes. Mystery. Yesss! More. No. No, I don't. Yessss! No. UGH!!!!! A few hundred pages less would've been better. It was just too long - and that made me hate everything about the book along the way ....
BUT ... I also really liked reading it - I liked all the characters and the story. It was definitely not bad. It's a LRJ book, so you know it's great, but it was just too long!
But I also can't wait to get my hands on the next book!!!! ☺

Welcome back to Lisa's world of corporate high flyers, dirty deals and even dirtier relationships.
Reid and Carrie's relationship is full of sexual tension and lust and hatred. And I wanted all of it to come out fighting.
I liked their story and their relationship, however I felt that it got stuck on a bit of a merry-go-round for a while there where our lovelies were all I like you-hot sex-I hate you-hate f&^k-rinse and repeat. The book could have probably done with about 50 less pages as I did find myself thinking "here we go again" is the cycle started each time.
I do like the fighting between them as I could feel it was coming from a place of more than just hatred. I could understand the trust issues, the feelings of betrayal etc etc between them.
I adored Reid and all his gruffness - even if he was a complete dick at times.
I did like this story, but I did feel that things were dragged out, which made the book toooo long. I know it sounds like I didn't like it, but that is not the case, it just needed chopping done to it. I mean, it is a LRJ book so of course I will like it.
I am looking forward to the next books to come.

"Why am I here, Reid?”
I drag her onto my lap. “Because I want you here. Because I can’t seem to stop breaking my own fucking rules with you.”
Her hands plant on my shoulders. “And you’re mad at me again? You’re blaming me.”
“Yes. Stop making me break my rules.” I cup her head and kiss her, my tongue pressing past her lips, stroking us both into a needier place, where rules don’t matter.
She moans and sinks into the kiss, and damn it, I love those moans, I’m addicted to those moans. I’m addicted to this woman, and all my good intentions to sate that addiction, fail. I pull my T-shirt over her head and toss it, my gaze raking over her. My hand slides between her shoulder blades, and I mold her close. “This is definitely your fault.”
“Is this where you decide to kick me out again?”
“No,” I say. “This is where we fuck.” I drag her mouth to mine, and kiss her, telling myself that fucking is all this can be, reminding myself of the debt and the secret I legally cannot share. The secret that she’d never stay silent over if she knew.
