His father has cancer and only a few weeks/months to live and that's why Rafe wants to be traded to the Cold Fury to spend some last moments with his dad.
Also back home in Raleigh is Calliope. Callie. Poppy.
She was Rafe's first everything. They were best friends since the day they were born.
And when Rafe left for his hockey career eight years ago - he broke both their hearts.
And Callie still hasn't forgiven him ...
This was such a sweet and heartbreaking second-chance love story!
We already knew that we would probably shed a few tears because of Rafe's dad dying.
But I really cried a lot!
It's all so heartbreaking and sad and ugh!
And poor Rafe and poor Calliope!
They could've been so happy for so many years now, but Rafe left without her!
WHY???
We'll find out. But poor Rafe will have a really hard time to get that second-chance-happily-ever-after he so desperately wants ... Callie is MAD at the guy! LOL!
At least the book is pretty short - so we don't have to fight too hard for that happy end!
I really loved reading this. Very cute novella! I wouldn't have minded a longer book - it was a bit too short and a tiny bit too mushy... but I liked it!
Can we please get a Sawyer Bennett Hockey Netflix series??

As with every Sawyer book ... I had some problems with the writing...
It's Sawyer's and my THING ☺ It's only me who has those problems with her writing. So please don't be worried or just scroll down and don't read the following...
I have a HUGE AS problem! ☺ You know the AS's I'm talking about? The AS that could/should be exchanged for a SINCE or a BECAUSE or just a comma/dot/pause/whatever.☺ It's a British and or legal thing (if it's a thing at all!) and it doesn't have anything to do in an American book by an American author. I really don't want to insult Sawyer. I love her books, but ... please stop doing it. But pfff who am I to tell her what to do, so just forget I said anything! It doesn't stop her books from being great!

We got a great lead up to Rafe's story during Dominik, and I wasn't sure if a novella was going to be enough.
Oh, what a punch this short packed.
I knew it was going to be emotional from what we had learned, however it was more than i was expecting.
Rafe and Calliope's relationship is never going to be an easy one, but watching them come back together after the troubles of their past, all the while dealing with Rafe's family issues - I kinda swooned a little.
I laughed, I cried (big fat tears) and I loved, right along with our lovelies.
Did I want a full length story for Rafe - sure I did. But I am completely and utterly satisfied with the novella
Now, time to bring on more of Ms Bennett' hockey hotties!
