Don’t miss this heart pounding apocalyptic romance from New York Times bestselling author Kylie Scott!

There’s only one person Dean Wallace wants to save from the end of the world. Sunshine girl from across the road. His neighbor who’s always smiling. Who knows, maybe she can teach him a thing or two about how to live. But saving her against her will is harder than it looks.

Astrid Hardy doesn’t know what to think when she wakes up in her hot neighbor’s basement. He says it’s to protect her from the collapse of society due to a virus. Which sounds like some paranoid conspiracy theory nonsense. Losing her shit seems the correct response.

As they watch the downfall of modern life on the flatscreen, however, and hear the gunshots from up on the street and smell the smoke from nearby burning buildings, it all starts to seem horribly realistic. The real question is
with almost everyone dead and law and order gonehow will they navigate this new world together?

Astrid + Dean

They've been living across the street from each other for years, but have never spoken until now. Until Dean 'kidnaps' Astrid and keeps her in his basement. (In pretty nice surroundings!)
His reason? He's not a creepy psycho killer, no. He's maybe been slowly falling for the cute neighbor girl for a while now and since the world is about to end - he thought it would be nice to save her.
Oh, the world. Yup. A new virus is about to kill 99% of the world's population.
And Dean is planning on not being part of those 99% - together with Astrid.

LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN ...

That was cute.
Well, not cute. The world is ending. And everyone's dying. But the love and survivor story was cute.
Like with so many of Kylie's books...the book starts and bam! We're right in the middle of the story. The kidnapping happens in the first pages. We don't get any of that page after page 'story stuffing' of Astrid's apartment, life, friends, job, descriptions. No bla bla. Just story.
I kind of love that. But I also kinda don't. I need a tiny bit of the unnecessary bla bla. Just a bit.
The story is interesting. We want for those two to get somewhere safe and live happily ever after. But it does not look very likely with all those sick people and the bad and criminal ones in their way.
I loved reading this. I needed to know how it all ends.
It was funny and sweet and scary and dangerous - and so much more!
I would so watch the movie

Tiny little thing that bothered me - but that's just me...
Just a few weeks ago I read Mia Sheridan's new book - and it was kinda basically the same. Not a virus, but a solar flare. But the same kind of survivor road trip thingy.

WILDFLOWERS was a really sweet and funny and scary and dangerous and adorable end of the world road trip romance. Run to your nearest book dealer for your own Dean! This one is mine!
