✪ Show Stopper (Chicago First Responders #1) ✪ BJ Harvey ✪

The first time they meet it’s by chance.

The second is surely a coincidence.

The third...it’s either destiny or he’s a stalker.

Renee Hamilton has a thing against men in uniform. In her experience, they play hard, lie harder. Marco Rossi has a thing for feisty brunette women with a backbone and a smart mouth, especially one in particular who's playing hard to get.

She’s fiercely independent and wants better for herself.
He loves helping people so much it’s literally his job.

Worst case scenario, they crash and burn.

Lucky for Renee, Marco has a hose, he knows how to use it, and he happens to love putting out all kinds of fires; real or otherwise.

I feel like it has been forever since we have had a BJ Harvey story hit our kindles. I know it hasn't been that long - but then again 2020 has been about eleventy-three years long already.

We have briefly met Marco Rossi in the Cook brothers books, but it is fine if you dive right into this new spin off series.

After reading a few darker, more angsty books lately, Show Stopper was just what I needed this week.

I freaking LOVE Marco Rossi. I need one of my own. I love his persistence. I love his heart. Gah, go away Renee, I am going to jump into my Kindle and steal him from you.

Renee is a real firecracker. She is wary of men like Marco, and it brings out

I just couldn't wait to turn each page and find out where their story went next.

It was great seeing bits and pieces of Marco's sister Skye from the previous series, and I have adored getting to know a little of the rest of the Rossi clan. There are great secondary characters that I cannot wait to see get their HEA.

Please do not make me wait too long, Ms Harvey

♥ Lonely In Longreach ♥ Eva Scott ♥

Release date: 2nd September 2020

In the red heart of Queensland, two teenagers playing matchmaker are about to turn more than one life upside-down.

Widower Sam Costello has no time for love. When he's not working on his farm, he's trying to figure out how to connect with his teenage son Levi.

But Levi is about to finish high school, and he has big plans to move to Sydney for University with his best friend Maddie. If only he didn't feel so guilty about abandoning his dad. Maddie has her own reasons for wanting to go to Sydney and she's not going to let Levi's dad ruin her future happiness. Mr Costello needs a girlfriend and, with her talent for matchmaking, Maddie is the girl to make it happen. By the time Mr C figures out what she's done, surely he'll be too in love to be angry.

Journalist Sarah Lewis has a good job, a nice boyfriend and a safe life in Sydney. Though sometimes she wonders if life has more to offer than nice and safe. When she starts working on an article about finding love in the outback she finds herself asking whether journalists should become this invested in their research. But there's just something about Lonely in Longreach. Could it be that the man behind the dating profile is the key to the passion she has been looking for?

Sleepless in Seattle meets rural Australia in this fresh romantic comedy about optimism, online dating and love at first sight.

AR received from Harper Collins Australia for an honest review

One of my favourite movies ever is Sleepless In Seattle. When those doors open on the top of the Empire State Building... sigh.

So I was attracted to Lonely In Longreach as a retelling of Sleepless, set in the Australian outback (and I am so not a big fan of rural romances at all).

Sam (see, even the same main man name!) and Sarah are the modern day Sam and Annie - you know, emails instead of letters these days!

If you have seen the movie, you know how the story is going to go, however the enjoyment is in the journey that our lovelies take.

I also love Levi and Maddie, Sam's son and his best friend. Although their shenanigans are a bit over the top at times - and I wanted to call Maddie out on her BS a few times.

I love the small town vibe of Lonely In Longreach  - a town with a population about the same as my shire - and get the way that our lovelies feel that they are in a fishbowl.  Oh yeah, I know that feeling too well lol.

Eva Scott is a new author to me.  And even though this is not my favourite genre, I really enjoyed this tale, and would pick up more of her words in the future.

Eva comes from a family of storytellers and has been writing her own stories since she could hold a pencil. Growing up in a multicultural neighbourhood in Melbourne, Eva developed her wanderlust and a passion for culture and language. She travelled the world, living in Britain before coming home to Australia to study Anthropology. Wanderlust got the better of her again, so Eva packed up and headed to Papua New Guinea to live and work where she was completely in her element. Eva's passion for the Australian country is born of her large extended family, which is spread out across the land. She volunteers at the local primary schools, teaching writing and working with children to incite a love of books and reading. Eva's books explore relationships, culture, our roles in changing society, love and loss. She loves finding connections with readers over shared experiences.

• Book #2 in the Sunshine Sisters series

★★★★★
4.65 Stars

Young widow Bella Sunshine-Caldwell is focused only on raising her daughter and running the family business, Sunshine Bridal. There’s no time for romanceespecially with her fellow wedding planner, Gabe, whom shes growing increasingly attracted to. Hes too enterprising to stay in Cape May for long, anyway. And too tall, dark, and handsome to be anything but a heartbreaker.

Every woman in town has her sights on Gabe Garcia. The only woman he has eyes for doesn’t seem interested. All he wants is to fall in love, be a father, and settle down. As he and Bella work together on a magical winter wedding, the distance between them closes, the nights grow warmer, and Bella might be seeing Gabe for who he really is: a man worth the effort.

But all it takes is a single rumor for these two hearts’ fragile love story to shatter. And now the happy ending Bella and Gabe hoped for is something they’re going to have to fight for.

We're back in Cape May on the Jersey Coast with the three Sunshine sisters who run their own wedding planner business.

Bella is the 2nd sister to tell us her story.
And it started as a dream story ... Bella married her childhood sweetheart, they had a daughter ... and three months later some drunk driver killed her husband.
Now, five years later, she's a busy single mom working for the family wedding planner business. And she loves it.
Then there's Gabe. He's been working with the sisters for three years now.
And since day one he's been in love with Bella. But she just doesn't see him that way. She thinks he's a ladies man - on a date every other night - soon to leave town for bigger and better things.
But that's so not Gabe. He wants Bella. He wants to be little Zoe's daddy. He wants it all.
He just has to convince Bella that he's worth it.
Let the fun times begin ...

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH BELLA & GABE?
WILL THERE BE A HEA??
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT ☺

I loved the first book in this series ... so much!
And this second book is just as adorable.
Also kinda sad though. First of all because Bella is a widow. But even more because we feel so bad for poor Gabe! He's so in love with Bella and she doesn't get it! Ugh. I wanted to hit her over the head with my kindle! LOL!
But I just loved reading this.
We're rooting for those two to finally figure things out!
It might take a little while though. ☺

This was a great love story.
It's an amazing series. Perfect location! Great cast!
I can't wait to read Taylor's story!

Also - I want to move to Cape May asap!
And I so want to see this whole thing on Netflix!!!

TEMPTATION ON OCEAN DRIVE was an adorable & sad & sparky & emotional & wedding-y New Jersey Beach Town love story! I loved it!
Run to your nearest amazon for your own Gabe - this one is mine!

ARC received for an honest review

You know when you pick up a JP book you are going to get a heartfelt, wonderful story that you are going to fall in love with.

However, I have renamed this story "Frustration on Ocean Drive".  Because oh my lord, did our leading lady Bella frustrate the heck out of me - and our gorgeous leading man, Gabe.

We have met them both already - Bella is one of the Sunshine sisters, and Gabe is Avery's assistant - and in my opinion, way to good for Bella.

Yes, I understand Bella has her reasons, but FFS woman, he is laying his heart at your feet and you keep trampling on it.  I want to hit you over the head with  my Kinde... and then come and steal Gabe from you all for myself.

I love the interactions and banter between the Sunshine girls.   I adore getting more of Carter and Lucy, and man, my heart also belongs to a little girl called Zoe.

It was a journey, but man it was good for our lovelies to finally get to their HEA.

I am looking forward to Taylor's story in the future.

• EXCERPT •

He repeated the question. “I need to know. Why was it easier not to believe me?”

This time, she didn’t hesitate. “Because then I could pretend you weren’t the man I really wanted.”

“And do you? Want me?”

She jerked back. Her tongue slipped out to wet her bottom lip. Her voice was barely a whisper. “Yes.”

He muttered a curse. Then leaned forward, his hand cupping her chin. “I want to kiss you, Bella. I’ve been wanting to kiss you forever, but I need to know it’s okay.”

She stared at him, pupils dilated, ragged breaths panting from her lips, and he knew this moment would be carved out in his mind—the first time he saw her face reflect her open want for him. She gave a tiny nod.

He moved closer. His lips stopped an inch from hers. “No. You need to say it.”

“Yes. Kiss me, Gabe.”

His mouth covered hers.
