New series from Jade C Jamison?  Yes please.

Fool Me Once is Codie Snow's story.  She seems to be floundering a bit, in life and love.  In a job she hates, and emotionally torn between a hot shot lawyer and a hot cop, she really is a bit of a mess.

I am not going to lie, it did take me a little bit to get into Codie's story (it might be just me but at first it felt like I was dropped part way into a story not the beginning) but this could just be me.  And by about 20% in I was fully involved.

The book has a bit of everything.  It floats between sweet, sexy and suspenseful.

At times I wanted to shake a bit of sense into Codie, to stand up and make a choice, but then I could understand her as we have all been in that position at some time in our lives, unsure of what to do next.

And when she does make her mind up what she is going to do - well, let's just say that it is not what you would expect.  It was a strong, forthright decision, and just when I wanted to cheer her, tell her you go girl...

It was the end.  Gah. No!  I need to know what happens next.

Fool Me Once is a strong start to the Codie Snow series, and I hope we don't have too long before we find out what happens.

EXCERPT

Codie drew Petes tongue in her mouth for a deeper kiss, all while realizing it would be smart to call a halt to this action right now. She knew she would now have a hell of a time riding in his police cruiser, thinking about him in not-so-nice-girl ways.

Yeah. Really naughty thoughts.

Oh, hell. They had to stop. Right. This. Second.

When the kiss ended, she slid her right hand from his neck to his chest and then gently pushed against him. Their lips broke apart and she said, Pete, maybe this isnt such a good idea.

There was that all-American grin, reminding her just how much shed adored him as a young man. You seemed to like kissing me just now.

She let out a small breath, unable to stifle her own smile. I liked it too much.

Theres no such thing. Come here. His hands around her waist pulled her close once more and he laid his lips on hers again. This time, though, he allowed his fingers to drift down as his hands slowly cupped her ass and pushed her more into himif that was even possible. Her eyes closed and she let herself enjoy the kiss again. When he stopped, he let her go slowly, teasing her once more, and he even took a small step back.

It was weird. Even though there was now a gap between their bodies, she could still feel his warmth.

And those stupid sweatpants. She could feel them trying to fall off her slender hips again. She grabbed them with one hand and caught her breath, trying to solidify her thoughts. Before she could speak, though, Pete said, Okay. Lunch, I guess, and then back to work.

Codie blinked. So thats it?

Another captivating grin. What do you mean?

She could feel her eyes grow wide. You get me all hot and bothered and then thats it. Back to work?

It was almost imperceptible, but she could see how he cocked his head slightly. Hmm. She knew he was confident to the point of being cocky, but was he signaling that he couldnt read her? How was that possible? This guya cop, trained to read peoplewas having a hard time sensing her emotions? How could he not know?

Thats what youre here for, right? The ride-along? And, besides, you said kissing you wasnt a good idea.

She pursed her lips to stifle a smile and then said, Jesus, Pete. It doesnt matter what I said…”

For years, Jade C. Jamison tried really hard to write what she thought was more literary fiction, but she found herself compelled to write what you read by her todaysometimes gritty, raw, realistic stories and other times humorous, light talesbut most of the stories she writes revolve around relationships and characters finding their way through life. While she doesnt confine herself to just one genre, nor is there a nice neat label for what she writes, most of her work could be called erotic romance.

She lives in Colorado with her husband and four children.
