In the small town of Briar Creek, you can't avoid anyone for very long. Not that Brett has been trying to avoid Ivy. He just can't afford to let anything distract him from his work-not again. So when a hospital fundraiser throws them together, love is the last thing on his mind. But with her quick wit and sweet laugh, soon the one woman he's tried to keep at arm's length is capturing his heart...

ARC received for an honest review

This is book 4 in the Briar Creek series and while it could be read as a stand alone, why would you want to miss the sweetness that is Briar Creek?

What would you do when the guy you have been crushing on since high school kisses you then leaves?  And what would you do if he came back to town?

This is the dilemma facing Briar Creek florist Ivy.

Brett is back in town and making Ivy all a-flutter.  But as she tries to get over her lifelong crush, he is not helping the matter by being all wonderful.

We have all been there.  Had that unrequited love, that crush that never goes away.  I felt for Ivy over and over as the story progressed.  All her friends are partnering off and the one man she wants she can't have.

Or can she.

Brett, Brett, Brett.  At times I wanted to love him, at times I wanted to slap some sense into him.  And hope to god that he will see what is right in front of him.

This book also dealt with a rather common health issue, but it did so in such a way that it did not make light of the illness or the affects it can have on people.

I adored that we got more of the characters from the previous books, how their lives are completely intertwined (and at times it feels a little bit incestuous how close they all are).  It wouldn't be a Briar Creek book without them all.

This book made me laugh, made me smile, made me frown.  I got  made, I got frustrated, but most of all I felt hope.  Hope that Ivy and Brett would finally get their act together.

You pretty much know what you are going to get with an Olivia Miles book, and she certainly did not disappoint with Love Blooms.

Now I am impatiently waiting for the final book in the series.

Please don't make me wait too long!

EXCERPT

A small gasp escaped from her but was quickly silenced by the firm press of Brettsmouth on hers. Unlike their last kiss, which had felt so tender, this time Brett was leaving no room for confusion about his intentions. She stiffened against his touch, trying to resist him, but pleasure pooled warm in her stomach and the space between her legs began to ache as he wrapped two arms around her waist and pulled her to his chest.

Oh, God. She wanted to fight this. The feeling he was stirring within her. The needfor more. She opened her mouth to him, letting him in. He kissed her deeply, not giving her a chance to break away, and she wasnt so sure she could, even if she wanted to. Her hands, which had been pushed off her hips by the strength of his arms, hung loosely at her sides, as if determined to stay out of this drama she was creating for herself, but, like her mouth, they lost the fight. She slid her hands up onto Bretts arms, taking in every curve of his hard muscles, and up onto his shoulders as she leaned into him. His breath was heavy as he kissed her harder, and she parted her legs to let his slide between and press against the tightness that was building within her.

What are we doing? she asked when they finally came apart. She blinked up at himand resisted the urge to flatten his disheveled locks. I did that, she realized with a flutter.

I dont really know. Bretts voice was low and coarse. But I like it.

She firmed her mouth and smoothed her dress. Not good enough.

Turning to stare at the folding table, she felt her spirits begin to sag. Shed let him inagain. Let him take her to places shed wanted, to dream dreams that should have stayed in her unconscious. And nothing had changed. Men dont change, Ivy. Thats what her mother had always said. When would she learn?

Well, it cant happen again, she insisted.

Oh no?

She glanced back to see that slow, sexy smile. No. But even as she said it, her bodywas saying yes.
