Sometimes the only way to forgiveness is through love

Foley has a new boss she doesn’t like, a flatmate who’s been known to wear odd shoes, and a car that’s ready to pack it in.  She hasn’t met a guy worth lipstick in forever, and though she planned a life less ordinary, the only thing unique about her is a badly thought through tattoo.

Until Drum.

Drum wasn’t always the cliff guy, a homeless man sheltering in a cave tucked above a popular tourist beach. He wanted to get as far away from his previous life as possible.  Now he wakes with the sun, runs on the beach, does odd jobs for cash to buy food, and is at peace.

Until Foley.
It’s Foley’s job to find Drum a safer place to live, but the only home Drum wants is the one place he can never stay: Foley’s heart.

Foley works for the city council in suburban Sydney. Her new boss wants her gone, and to prove herself, she takes on the impossible job to evict a homeless guy from a cave in a cliff above Bondi Beach. The beach needs to look perfect in a few weeks, when the city plans this outside-sculpture-exhibition thing.

Drum is NOT what Foley expected to find in that cave.
He's a very HOT and intelligent and amazing person, who doesn't want to be 'saved' from his dangerous living place.
He's content to live the rest of his life in that cave, helping people wherever help is needed and paying for his sins.
We of course don't yet know what kinds of sins he commited, but they must've been pretty bad.

Even though Foley is a tad scared by him and his possible mental illness, she still tries to become his friend.
Drum is scared too, he doesn't think he deserves to have a friend - or more.
But they slowly become friends anyway...
They spend time together jogging, eating, hanging out in his cave - but he still doesn't tell her what she wants to know about him and his past...
Will he ever?
And will she run screaming once she knows?
Or will other - outside forces force them apart???

WHAT WiLL HAPPEN WiTH FOLEY & DRUM???
WiLL THEY GET THEiR HAPPY EVER AFTER???
WiLL THERE BE A ... wait for it ... CLiFFHANGER??? ☺ ☺ ☺

NOPE..... I'm not telling you

I REALLY LOVED THE BOOK!

Every time we get a new ARC by Ainslie, it's a total Forrest Gump bench moment ... you never know what you're gonna get - you just know that you'll very probably end up loving it.

And this book was just like I had hoped.
PERFECT!!!!

In good old Ainslie fashion - it wasn't your typical run-of-the-mill romance.

We have this really sexy and mysterious homeless guy and a girl who's not really happy with her life...
She just wants to fall in love - have someone love her back - and be in love with her job.
All things she doesn't really have at the moment.
Until Drum.
But he's sooo not the right person for her - for nobody really. But that doesn't stop the sparks and the attraction.
It's so adorable to watch how she just doesn't give up getting him to open up.
But at the same time we all fear what it is he hides....
We hope that it won't destroy whatever's growing between them...

Some scenes made my eyes water a bit  ...

"I'm not moving. This is my home."

ugh - that poor guy - he just broke my heart with lines like that...
But then we have the beautiful scenery - Bondi Beach - sunsets - etc. - you just want to be there with them!

Inconsolable was an amazingly different and moving and beautiful Romance - I would love to sit on my towel on beautiful Bondi Beach and watch Foley and Drum fight for their future!

And now Ainslie - give us whatever you're working on now - can't wait to see where the next story will take us!

Copy received from the author for an honest review

A new story from Ainslie Paton?  Woo hoo!  Over the past year or so, Ms Paton has quickly become one of my "would read if she wrote the takeaway menus" authors.

Inconsolable has Ms Paton back at her contemporary romance best.

When Foley climbs down into the cave on the cliff to move the homeless man to somewhere safer, she never thought it would the one thing she did that day that would change her life.

Oh man, what a difference a day makes!  Drum is not what either Foley or I expected.   He's not your regular, everyday homeless man.

There was just something that I couldn't help but instantly like about Drum.  I knew that there was something beneath the surface, knew that whatever his secret was, that he couldn't truly be that man... could he?

Our main bad boy in Inconsolable is Foley's boss, Gab.  She is out to cause trouble, but at the end of the day, she is what she is, and you knew what you were getting, and you hoped, at the end of the day, that she was going to get what was due her.

However, the person that I ended up disliking more than the intended bad guy, was Foley's best friend, Nat.  I know, right?  How could I dislike the best friend??

Now, it may just be me, but I didn't feel that Nat deserved to hold the "best friend" card.  While yes, I could understand some of her actions and words towards Foley, I also felt that she pretty much disregarded Foley, her thoughts and feelings on Drum.

I loved the air of secrecy that surrounds Drum. Little by little we learned more about him - and my heart just melted for him more and more.

Once again, Ms Paton has delivered an all-encompassing story which I couldn't help but lose myself in - and didn't want to be found!

I look forward to what she brings us next.
