Skin Deep by J.M Stone - Review

Blurb:
Oh, who was she kidding? Emma knew that going to the tattoo shop with her best friend, Allie, would result in getting badgered until she ended up with some sort of needle piercing her flesh in one way or another. What she didnt plan on was ending up face-first on the floor of the shop with a busted lip. Or doing it in front of the hottest guy shed seen sincewell, ever.

Mortified, Emma never thought she
d ever step foot back in Skin Deep again. But fate, with a little help from Emmas flighty best friend and a chance encounter with a fudge bar, steps in. Now Emmas torn between taking a chance on getting her heart broken by the enigmatic, gorgeous Lucas, and playing it safe with good ol trusty B.O.B.

Lucas lets Emma know that he gets what he wants, and what he wants is her. When Emma gives in and quits pushing him away, she
s surprised at how quickly the walls around her heart crumble. Shes even more surprised that her unconventional, zany family just endears her even more to him.

But no one knows there
s someone that wants her more, and theyll stop at nothing to get her.

*Recommended for readers 18+ due to HOT sexual encounters, adult situations, and language.

Review:

I love love loved Skin Deep!

Legal secretary Emma is dragged reluctantly to get a tattoo by her best friend Allie - though why Emma went through with the tattoo when her bestie was only getting a piercing was beyond me.

Spying the hottie in the back of the shop, Emma falls hard for Luke - literally falling at his feet when she trips over.  There is that instant attraction between Emma and Luke that you can feel.

At first I thought Emma was going to be on of those 'why does he like me, he's so hot, I'm not good enough for him women' and was so pleased that she wasn't.  There are just too many female characters like that these days, and it makes me roll my eyes!

Luke and Emma embark on their relationship, despite her family's "interruptions". I couldn't help but laugh when Emma's brother and sister walked in on her and Luke getting down and dirty in her living room.

OMG her family!  Her happily married sister thinks her detective hubby is cheating and tries to spy on him, with hilarious - and sexy results! Her younger brother and sister are fantastic, especially Calland

And the family dinners - priceless.  They kind of reminded me of when my family all get tgether in the one room - well, except for "the Penis Rule"!!

Luke's only family is his "brother" Brandon who runs the tattoo and piercing shop with him.  There is something between Brandon and Allie that doesn't quite get there -yet.

Add their friend Jackson (Jacks) and things kinda get interesting!

There is a stalker plotline with Emma, that I don't feel was necessary for this story, but it did not detract from the main storyline at all.

There is the obligatory "bump in the road" for the relationship, but thankfully Emma owned her mistake, and this was not a long, drawn out process that takes half the book to sort out.  It was over and done with and the story moved on.

JM STone is a first time author, but this does not feel like that. It is well written, great character development, fun storylines.

There are more books in this series, however Skin Deep is a stand alone book, and the other books will be about other characters/relationships.

I look forward to reading the next installment, Under My Skin.

Oh, and after reading about the tattooed hotties in this book, I was left thinking to myself
